General information and overview
The Mahindra Bolero Special Edition 2010 is a seven-seater SUV that has been a staple in the Indian automotive market for its reliability and versatility. Powered by a 2.5L turbo diesel engine, it produces 63 HP at 3200 rpm and 180 Nm of torque at 1440-1500 rpm, making it capable of handling various terrains with ease. The vehicle features a manual transmission with a five-speed gearbox and has a fuel tank capacity of 60 liters. The Special Edition includes additional features such as rear ABS, leather seats, and an all-digital display, enhancing its appeal. With a ground clearance of 180 mm and a robust suspension system, it can navigate through rough roads and small speed breakers smoothly. While it may not be the most stylish or comfortable SUV, its practicality, durability, and value for money make it an attractive option for many Indian buyers.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The Mahindra Bolero Special Edition, particularly the 2010 model, is a robust and practical choice for those seeking a reliable and versatile SUV. From my experience, this vehicle excels in its ability to handle various terrains, making it a favorite among rural and semi-urban users. The Special Edition comes with enhancements such as rear ABS, leather seats, and an all-digital display, which add a touch of modernity to its otherwise rugged design. However, it lacks in terms of comfort and styling compared to more contemporary SUVs. The steering feels large, and the front seats lack under-thigh support, but these are minor drawbacks for a vehicle that offers such durability and value for money. Overall, it is a solid choice for those prioritizing functionality and reliability over luxury and aesthetics.
Recent news and announcements
Mahindra launched the Bolero Special Edition in April 2011, which featured leather seats, body graphics, and Blue vision headlamps. This edition also included a distinct wire mesh design to set it apart from the standard model. The special edition was aimed at attracting more buyers with its enhanced aesthetics. I think these additions made the Bolero more appealing to those looking for a bit of luxury in an SUV.
Mahindra emphasized the Boleros durability and off-road capabilities with the special edition, which was designed to handle various terrains. The vehicles suspension and engine were tuned to provide a smooth ride over rough roads. This focus on off-road performance made the Bolero a favorite among rural buyers. I believe this was a smart move by Mahindra to tap into the rural market.
The Bolero Special Edition (2010) featured several cosmetic upgrades, including body graphics and a wire mesh grille. These changes gave the vehicle a fresh and aggressive look, appealing to buyers who wanted a bit more style in their SUV. The special edition was priced competitively to attract more customers.
The Mahindra Bolero Special Edition (2010) boasted a maximum power of 63 BHP at 3200 rpm and a maximum torque of 180 Nm at 1500 rpm. It had a top speed of 125 km/h and a ground clearance of 180 mm, making it suitable for Indian road conditions. The kerb weight of the vehicle was 1615 kg. These specs made it a robust choice for both urban and rural areas.
During the financial year 2009-10, Mahindra sold 70,554 units of the Bolero in India, making it the top-selling SUV in the country for the fourth consecutive year. This success led to the introduction of special editions to keep the momentum going. The Boleros popularity was a testament to its reliability and performance. I think this sales figure speaks volumes about the Boleros market acceptance.
Pricing details and changes
The Mahindra Bolero Special Edition 2010 was priced competitively in the Indian market. At the time of its launch, the ex-showroom price was around Rs. 6.5 to 7.5 lakhs, depending on the region and specific features. On-road prices, including taxes and other costs, would have been slightly higher, typically ranging from Rs. 7.5 to 8.5 lakhs. Given its robust build, seven-seater capacity, and decent performance, the Bolero Special Edition offered good value for money, especially for families or businesses needing a reliable workhorse. Today, if youre considering a used model, prices would be significantly lower, reflecting the vehicles age and mileage.
Fuel efficiency information
The Mahindra Bolero Special Edition 2010 is known for its decent fuel efficiency, which is a crucial factor for many Indian buyers. With an ARAI-certified mileage of around 13.6 kmpl, this SUV is relatively economical to run. In real-world conditions, you can expect a mileage of about 10-12 kmpl in city driving and up to 14 kmpl on highways, depending on driving habits and road conditions. This makes it a practical choice for those concerned about running costs, especially for long-distance travel or frequent use.

i am using it, good performance, getting around 16kmpl with AC, i didn't find any difference in milliage with AC or With out AC. Steering control is too good, i can make complete U turn on 60 kmph speed also...
Very goog on its class!!!!
Its high time that Mahindra should launch an all new lean & mean compact Bolero with exterior dimension of under 4 meter and kerb weight of under 1200 kg and proper 1.4 L diesel engine to make it a machine for the masses.....
