Jeep Wrangler

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited made its public appearance at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo early in February. The Indian version Jeep Wrangler is available in 4-door Unlimited version. It will be imported to India via CBU (completely built up) route. Jeep Wrangler is a premium off-roader with legendary traction, articulation and water fording capabilities and some of the most outstanding off-road performance. Wrangle Unlimited is now available in India for Rs. 71.59 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi).

Dimensions and Weight

The Wrangler Unlimited measures 4583 mm, 1877 mm, 1829 mm in overall length, width and height respectively. It has got a wheelbase of 2947 mm and its kerb weight comes out to be 2119 kg. It has got a fuel tank capacity of 85 litres and the seating capacity of the vehicle is for 5 people. The ground clearance of Wrangler Unlimited is 238.2mm.

Exterior

Jeep Wrangler features a robust look with bold stances and looks quite rugged and sporty. Wrangler Unlimited features classic Jeep design elements with an all-weather capability. The fun continues with its removable tops and doors with which you can convert it into the open-air 4x4 vehicle. The Indian model is also expected to feature multiple roof options – Hard Top, Soft Top, Color Top and No Top. The modular hardtop mixes-and-matches with the body paint of the vehicle whereas the Sunrider soft top is easy-to-open.

The exterior design is also marked by fog lights, round headlamps, black fuel filler bezel, full-framed doors with roll-up windows, heated power mirrors, hood decal, side steps, and park turn lamps. For amazing on-road and off-road performance, Wrangler Unlimited comes with wide range of tyres as well. To add to your adventure and fun, the Wrangler Unlimited also comes with varied door options which include: removable, full-framed doors with roll-up windows, map pockets with mesh net and aluminum-forged hinges, available power windows and door locks.

Interior

Like the exteriors, Jeep Wrangler features classy and premium interiors. The interiors have been designed to make sure the riders enjoy the best of comfort and class inside the Jeep. Starting from its comfortable interior, the first thing is seats which have been upholstered in premium McKinley leather trim with embroidered stitching.

In fact, Wrangler offers you two premium seating options: McKinley Black with light slate gray accent stitching and the other is McKinley Dark Saddle with black accent stitching. Adding on to this, Wrangler also gives you a benefit of available heated front seating and illuminated cup holders. Another amazing fact about the Jeep is the ease with which you can keep it clean. Wrangler Unlimited has got durable and washable interior with drain plugs as a standard feature.

Infotainment

The SUV is also equipped with plenty of connectivity features which include: 6.5 inch touchscreen audio with Audio input jack, 9-speaker Alpine premium sound system with four 6.5-inch speakers, U-connect 130 system with AM/FM radio, CD player, audio input jack and MP3 format capability, lockable centre console, an all-weather sub-woofer and two weather-resistant tweeters, premium instrument cluster, heated front seats and power outlets.

Engine and Gearbox

Powering the rugged and sporty Jeep is the 2.8 L CRD Turbo Diesel DOHC I-4 engine which can churn 200 HP at 3600 rpm against a maximum torque of 460 Nm at 1600-2000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission.

Storage and Safety Features

The safety features include advanced multistage front airbags, hill start assist, electronic roll mitigation, a Brake Assist System and a Four-Wheel Disc Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), electronic stability control, front passenger seat belt alert, remote key-less entry, entry key theft deterrent system, speed control, security alarm, sport bard with full padding and traction control.

With the help of Remote Key-less Entry system, you can lock or unlock doors or the lift-gate flip-up window even while you are 15 meters away from the Jeep. Wrangler Unlimited also comes with a Sentry Key anti-theft engine immobilizer which with it is virtually impossible for anyone to drive your vehicle even without the valid key.

Wrangler Unlimited offers you decent storage space with its 60/40 split and fold-flat seats. You can secure valuables at the centre console and lockable easy-access storage bin with a dual-stage lid tray. It also offers you space of gear with a storage bin under the rear cargo area. Also all the doors carry nets where you can keep items at hand.

Capability

Every Wrangler Unlimited comes with a Trail Rated badge which says off its ability to perform well under any sort of road condition. It has got a legendary traction, maneuverability, high ground clearance, articulation and water fording abilities. Wrangler Unlimited also comes with Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist. With Hill Descent Control, you can monitor throttle, braking and speed while you are traveling downhill.

The Hill Start Assist feature keeps your brakes applied for a short time even when you’ve removed your foot from it. This helps you accelerate without rollback. The durability of the Wrangler Unlimited comes from heavy shafts, large pinion bearings, stiff housings, and above-centre pinion mountings resulting into smooth and quiet operation.

Brakes and Suspension

The braking duties are excellently performed by disc brakes at the front and the rear. The suspension part is taken care of by heavy duty suspension with gas shocks both at the front and the rear.

Shades

In India, Wrangler Unlimited Jeep is available in 6 shades: Black, Rhino, Bright White, Firecracker Red, Granite Crystal, and Billet Silver Metallic.
