I've been driving the 2017 Ford Figo Sports diesel around Indian roads for years now, and it remains my go-to for that perfect blend of thrill and practicality in the hatchback segment. The 1.5-litre TDCi engine pumps out 100hp and a massive 215Nm of torque from as low as 1750rpm, making overtakes on highways like Mumbai-Pune expressway effortless, hitting triple-digit speeds with ease while sipping fuel at 16-21kmpl even with my enthusiastic foot. City drives in Delhi traffic are a breeze too, with minimal turbo lag and third gear crawling at 20kmph without drama. The reworked suspension in the S variant stiffens things up for sharper handling, tucking neatly into corners on twisty Ghats, though the stock 195/55 R15 tyres squeal under hard braking and lack grip—I've swapped mine for grippier rubber to unlock its full potential. Ride quality balances bounce over potholes without feeling floaty, and the lightweight body aids efficiency but gets pushed by crosswinds above 140kmph on the Sea Link. Inside, the blacked-out cabin with leather steering and Titanium features like dual airbags and auto AC feels premium, seating four comfortably on long trips, boot swallows 257 litres easily. Clutch is stiff, a minor gripe, but with Ford's exit, parts are still available via independents at reasonable costs, keeping running expenses low at Rs 3.67 per km. It's the underrated hot hatch that still turns heads and outperforms rivals under 15 lakhs.

I've spent considerable time with the 2017 Ford Figo diesel, and I must say it remains one of the most engaging hatchbacks I've tested in India. The 1.5-litre TDCi engine is genuinely impressive, delivering 100 horsepower and 215 Newton-meters of torque that makes highway driving at 180 km/hr feel effortless in a car of this size. What captivates me most is how the engine pulls from as low as 1,600 rpm, eliminating the need to downshift even in fifth gear for overtaking. In my extensive testing, I consistently achieved fuel economy above 16 km/l despite aggressive driving, with highway runs reaching 21 km/l. The handling is exceptionally sharp for its class, with the suspension delivering excellent balance between ride comfort and cornering capability. However, I did notice the lightness causes some crosswind sensitivity on bridges above 140 km/hr, and the stock tyres are inadequate for the performance on offer. The cabin design is functional rather than premium, with good build quality and comfortable seating for five. For driving enthusiasts seeking practical efficiency without compromising excitement, this Figo diesel remains a compelling choice that delivers genuine thrills in India's traffic conditions.

The 2017 Ford Figo represents a thoughtfully engineered hatchback that strikes an impressive balance between practicality and driving engagement for the Indian market. Having driven both the petrol and diesel variants, I found the 1.5-litre diesel engine to be the standout performer, delivering a smooth 100 horsepower with excellent torque characteristics that make city driving effortless despite its modest displacement. The diesel variant achieves over 25 km/l on highways while maintaining linear power delivery with minimal turbo lag, a rare combination in this segment. The handling dynamics genuinely impressed me, with the reworked suspension in the Sports Edition providing noticeably improved cornering stability and steering feedback compared to standard variants. Ground clearance of 174mm caters well to Indian road conditions. However, I noticed the standard tyres feel inadequate for the engine's performance capabilities, and the steering, while responsive, lacks the hydraulic feel of earlier generations. Interior quality is functional rather than premium, though features like climate control and safety equipment across variants add value. The compact 257-litre boot suits urban commuting needs. Overall, this Figo delivers genuine driving pleasure without compromising on fuel efficiency, making it an underrated choice for enthusiast drivers seeking practicality.

I've been driving the 2017 Ford Figo diesel in India for a while now, and it remains one of my favorite mass-market hatchbacks for its punchy 1.5-litre engine that delivers 100hp and 215Nm from just 1,600rpm, making city crawls effortless and highway overtakes thrilling up to 140kmph. The lightweight build gives it a stellar power-to-weight ratio around 95hp/ton, rivaling pricier options like the Polo GT TDI, while real-world mileage hits 24kmpl on highways and 19kmpl in Mumbai's chaos, though the S variant dips slightly to 24.29kmpl due to chunkier 195/55 R15 tyres and added sporty bits like the black roof and alloys. Handling shines with eager cornering, precise electric steering, and a balanced suspension that soaks up urban potholes well, staying composed at speed despite some bounce on bad roads or expansion joints. Brakes offer great bite, and the 174mm ground clearance handles our roads confidently. The cabin packs six airbags and decent features, but rear headroom cramps taller folks, and stock tyres squeal under hard acceleration—I've swapped mine for wider rubber to match the chassis's potential. Maintenance stays affordable thanks to Ford's child parts strategy, making it a practical thrill machine even today.

This edition featured a sporty cellular grille, new 15-inch alloy wheels, and a dual-tone roof. The interior got a blue-themed makeover, and it included segment-first six airbags for added safety. I think this edition was a great move to attract younger buyers who crave both style and safety.
