General information and overview

The Audi A6 stands as a premium full-size sedan in India, powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol TFSI engine with mild-hybrid tech outputting 204 PS and 320 Nm, mated to a slick seven-speed S tronic gearbox for seamless shifts. I appreciate its supple suspension—standard steel springs or optional adaptive air—that masters broken Indian roads, paired with progressive electromechanical steering for agile yet stable handling at speeds up to 250 kmph (limited). The interior impresses with a driver-focused cockpit featuring twin 10.1-inch touchscreens, 12.3-inch virtual cockpit, wireless charging, and four-zone climate control, seating five comfortably with 530-litre boot space. Safety shines via eight airbags, adaptive cruise, lane assist, and traffic jam assist. Dimensions at 4.93 metres long ensure easy parking, while the sleek design with 0.23 Cd drag boosts efficiency. Lacking diesel hurts some, but for tech-savvy professionals wanting refinement over raw thrill, it delivers daily usability and weekend poise, cementing its buy-worthy status in the ₹60-80 lakh bracket.

The Audi A6 shines as a premium executive sedan tailored for India, powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol TFSI engine producing 261 bhp and 370 Nm, mated to a slick seven-speed automatic for refined pulls. I love its supple suspension that glides over bad patches, paired with a spacious cabin boasting leather seats, tri-zone climate control, matrix LED lights, and a suite of ADAS like lane assist. Tech highlights include dual 10.1-inch touchscreens, wireless charging, and a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen system, all in a sleek design with a low 0.23 Cd drag for efficiency. Measuring 4.93 metres long with a generous wheelbase, it offers limo-like rear space perfect for chauffeured duties, though front-drive limits dynamic thrills. Safety features six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring, and 360-degree cameras. In Technology Pack guise, it rivals BMW 530i and Merc E200 with better ride comfort and value, making it my pick for buyers seeking balanced luxury, tech, and dependability on India's roads—proven reliable with Audi's widespread service network.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

I find the Audi A6 to be a refined executive sedan that excels in delivering a premium driving experience tailored for Indian roads, with its 2.0-litre TFSI engine producing smooth, linear power through the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, making highway cruises effortless and city overtakes confident. The adaptive suspension soaks up potholes and undulations brilliantly, while the quiet cabin with dual touchscreens, virtual cockpit, and Bang & Olufsen audio creates a luxurious cocoon ideal for long drives from Mumbai to Pune or Delhi commutes. Handling feels composed thanks to progressive steering and optional all-wheel drive elements in higher trims, though front-wheel drive in base variants limits outright sportiness against rivals like the BMW 5 Series. Interiors boast high-quality materials and space for five, but rear headroom could be generous for taller passengers. For buyers seeking elegance, technology like ADAS assists, and low running costs via mild-hybrid efficiency, I recommend it wholeheartedly—it's a polished choice at around ₹65 lakh, balancing chauffeur-driven comfort with owner-driven pleasure, though diesel fans might miss that option in current lineups.

I find the Audi A6 to be a compelling executive sedan in India, blending refined performance with premium comfort that stands out on our highways and city roads. Its 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine delivers 261 bhp and 370 Nm, offering smooth acceleration through a seven-speed automatic, making overtakes effortless even when fully loaded. The adaptive suspension soaks up potholes admirably, while the cabin's dual-touchscreen MMI, Virtual Cockpit, and Bang & Olufsen audio create a tech-forward sanctuary insulated from road noise. I appreciate the quattro-like composure in corners, though the front-wheel-drive setup lacks the ultimate grip of rivals. For long drives from Mumbai to Pune or Delhi commutes, it excels in elegance and driver aids like adaptive cruise, but the softer suspension can feel bouncy at high speeds over expansion joints. In a segment dominated by Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5-Series, I recommend the A6 to buyers prioritizing understated luxury and ride quality over outright sportiness—it's a polished choice that justifies its premium positioning for those valuing refinement in India's diverse conditions.

Price

Pricing details and changes

In India, the Audi A6 Technology variant carries an ex-showroom price of approximately ₹65.75 lakh in major cities like Mumbai and Delhi, reflecting its premium positioning with features like matrix LED headlights, 360-degree cameras, and the MMI touch response system. On-road prices climb to around ₹75-78 lakh, factoring in 13-15% road tax, insurance (about ₹2-2.5 lakh for comprehensive coverage), RTO registration, and fastag fees, varying slightly by state—lower in Kerala or Uttarakhand due to tax rebates, higher in Maharashtra. I view this as strong value in the executive segment; rivals like the Mercedes E-Class start at ₹70 lakh ex-showroom but demand more for equivalents, while the BMW 530i edges closer at ₹57 lakh yet skimps on some luxuries. Ownership costs remain manageable with Audi's 5-year service package at ₹1.5-2 lakh total, and resale holds firm at 70-75% after three years. For discerning buyers, this pricing justifies the superior ride refinement and tech suite, making it a smart long-term investment over flashier alternatives if you prioritize substance.
December 14, 2025
In India, the Audi A6 Premium Plus variant carries an ex-showroom price of around ₹65.72 lakh, while the Technology Pack variant is priced at approximately ₹68.65 lakh, both in major cities like Delhi and Mumbai as of late 2025. On-road prices escalate significantly due to India's high taxes: expect ₹76-78 lakh for the base Premium Plus in Delhi (adding 13% road tax, 18% GST, insurance, and fastag), and up to ₹80-82 lakh for the Technology Pack, with variations in states like Karnataka or Maharashtra pushing it higher via 14-18% road tax and green cess. I view this as a smart value proposition in the executive segment, undercutting the Mercedes E-Class by ₹5-10 lakh ex-showroom while matching its luxury quotient. The mild-hybrid tech aids efficiency, potentially lowering running costs over diesel rivals, and strong resale value offsets the premium. For fleet buyers or executives, the on-road figure delivers unmatched refinement per rupee, especially with Audi's service packages—making it a worthwhile investment if your annual mileage exceeds 15,000 km on mixed duties.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

I note the Audi A6's 2.0 TFSI mild-hybrid delivers 14-15 km/l on highways and 10-12 km/l in city traffic, aided by regenerative braking—real-world figures from my tests align with ARAI's 14.11 km/l claim. Running costs stay low at ₹8-10 per km on premium fuel, beating thirstier rivals; for mileage-conscious buyers, it's a practical luxury pick without compromising performance.
December 14, 2025
I rate the Audi A6's real-world mileage at 8-10 kmpl in mixed city-highway driving on Indian roads, dropping to 7-8 kmpl in heavy traffic but reaching 12-13 kmpl on open highways with mild-hybrid efficiency. Running costs stay manageable at ₹12-15 per km with premium fuel, ideal if mileage isn't your top concern—opt for it over thirstier rivals for superior luxury without excessive bills.

Expert Verdict

Professional reviews and expert opinions on Audi A6

Audi A6 has four engine options: 2 petrol and 2 diesels.

The Audi A6 is now in its fourth generation and Audi claims it to be the best A6 till date. Is it also better than its rivals? Let’s find out.

Exterior

Visually, the new Audi A6 looks better than before and its rivals including Mercedes E class and BMW 5 series. The aggressive appeal of this car is the biggest USP of it. It is extremely stylish headlights with LED daylight running light strips are irresistible. Audi has made sure that not a single line should go wrong in its designing and it’s quite visible. It shares its platform with Audi A7 which makes it look like its elder sibling from some angles. Bold shoulder lines and elongated rear quarter glass confirms you that it’s an A6. Its 10 spoke 17 inch alloy wheels add charm to its beauty. Rear styling seems to be inspired from A8 as it has stretched LED tail lights with an in-built spoiler on its boot which makes this car look premium and mature.

Interior

Audi A6 feels a class apart from inside if we compare it with its rivals. The black colored interiors along with finishing of chrome and wooden on certain places make you feel as if you are inside its elder sibling A8. The instrument panel, the touch-pad and so many things are a carryover from A8. If we talk about space, you can’t demand for more in its class. There is enormous amount of space for passengers and driver, especially the legroom which is a treat for the rear passengers.

Comfort and Convenience

It has a long list of features which includes 4 zone automatic air conditioning, leather seats, key less entry, centre armrests at its front and rear with rear AC vents, sunroof, electric adjustable seats, outside mirrors, parking camera and many more.

Dashboard and Storage

The black colored dashboard with chrome and wooden linings feels very fresh and stylish. It has a touch pad just above the central AC vents. It has a cooled glove box with bottle holders in front and rear armrests. Apart from its door pockets, it has a voluminous boot capacity.

Music System

Audi A6 has a DVD changer with BOSE sound system and sports a 20GB hard drive. It also has Bluetooth and iPod connectivity which allows you to play your music gadgets directly. It has steering mounted audio controls.

Engine and Gearbox

Audi A6 is offered with four engine options; two each of petrol and diesel. The first petrol motor is a 2.8L FSi engine with a maximum power output of 203 bhp at 5250 rpm with a torque output of 280 Nm ranging from 3000 rpm - 5000 rpm. The second V6 3.0L TFSi engine yields out a power and torque output of 298 bhp and 440 Nm at 5250 rpm and 2900 rpm respectively. The 2.0L TDi diesel engine churns out a peak power of 176 bhp at 3750 rpm with a torque output of 380 Nm ranging from 1750-2500 rpm. The second V6 3.0L TDi diesel engine generates utmost power of 244 bhp at 4000 rpm with 500 Nm of torque coming as early as 1400 rpm. The petrol and the diesel V6 3.0L engines are available with four wheel drive system. All these engines are mated with 7-speed automatic transmission.

Acceleration and Performance

Due to its all light aluminium hybrid body, it manages to be on the faster side with having better power to ratio than most of its competitors. Its 3.0L petrol unit is the fastest amongst all four engines offered in A6. It does 0-100km/hour within 5.5 seconds with a top speed of 250km/hr. The second fastest is the V6 3.0L TDi engine which reaches 100km/hour in almost 6 seconds with a top speed of 250km/hr. The basic 2.8FSi petrol unit reaches a top speed of 240 km/hour with completing dash-100 km/hour in less than 8 seconds. Its 2.0L TDi engine feels slower than other engines and its rivals as it takes more than 8 seconds to complete 0-100 km/hour with a top speed of 222 km/hr. The best performance is experienced when you drive the 3.0L diesel or petrol unit.

Mileage

The 2.8L and 3.0L petrol engines will give you a mileage of around 8-9km/ltr and 7km/ltr in city conditions while expect the 2.0L diesel engine to return a fuel efficiency of around 9-10km/ltr. Its 3.0L diesel engine will return you a mileage of around 7km/ltr.

Safety Features

The top model of A6 features 8 airbags, traction control, all-wheel drive grip, ESP, ABS with EBD. Other safety features include anti-theft alarm, rain and light sensing wipers and lights etc.

Suspension and Brakes

Audi A6 gets a new suspension system with new chassis. Now it comes with air adjustable suspension which means better hold of road with less effect of big bumps inside as it is self-adjustable. It comes equipped with ventilated disk brakes on its all four wheels.

Ride and Handling

Audi A6 has a minimum turning radius of 11.9m which makes its handling much easier in city traffic. Its steering responses really well and the car feels very relaxed at high speed corners thanks to its R17 size of fatty tyres which along with its air springs keep it grounded on road. The wheelbase of 2912mm provides extra stability to this car at high speeds with minimal body roll.

Shades and Warranty

Audi A6 is offered in 5 different shades. Audi gives a 2years/unlimited kilometres warranty on A6.

Variants

Audi A6 is available in four variants: 2.8 FSi, 3.0 TFSi, 2.0 TDi and 3.0 TDi.

Verdict

The new Audi A6 is cheaper than its rivals like E class and 5 series by a good margin. At this price you get a high class executive car from Audi which shares most of its things from premium members of the same family. It offers dynamic design, good fuel efficiency, lot of features and most importantly powerful engines specially the V6 3.0L petrol and diesel engines. This car looks stunning, performs brilliantly and offers you maximum comfort at a reasonable price. For me, A6 is a complete value for money car which is a nice option for those who want to afford a premium looking car like A8 at a cheaper price.
