Yamaha has updated the MT-25 for 2022 and launched the motorcycle in Indonesia. And for the new model year, the motorcycle gets two new colour options. There is the Metallic Blue- Yamaha’s signature colour with lighter blue on the tank panels and tail section. This options comes with body-color matched wheels. Yamaha is also offering a Metallic Dark Grey paint option that looks relatively snazzier. Along with the grey, it gets orange and cyan highlights on the body panels as well as cyan coloured wheels to complete the look.

The 2024 Yamaha MT-25 has been updated with new color options globally, including Dark Bluish Gray Metallic, Deep Purplish Blue Metallic, and Dark Matte Gray Metallic. However, there is no confirmation on when or if these new colors will be available in India. The MT-25 remains absent from the Indian market, which is a missed opportunity given its competitive specs. I believe the MT-25 could be a strong contender in the 250cc segment if Yamaha decides to launch it here.

The MT-25 shares a similar design ethos with the MT-03, including robotic-looking LED headlights, LED turn indicators, and a fully digital instrument cluster. These features make it an attractive option for those looking for a modern and tech-savvy bike. However, the lack of advanced tech like Bluetooth connectivity and rider modes might be a drawback. I think these omissions could be a significant factor in Yamahas decision not to launch it in India.

Yamaha has no immediate plans to launch the MT-25 in India, despite its popularity in other markets. This decision is likely due to the existing competition and the high pricing strategy that has not yielded great sales for the recently launched MT-03 in India. I think Yamaha needs to reassess their pricing and market strategy to make their higher-end bikes more appealing to Indian buyers.

The Yamaha MT-25 features a 249cc parallel-twin DOHC 4V liquid-cooled engine, producing 35 bhp and 22.6 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. It also comes with KYB suspension and dual-channel ABS as standard. Given its specs, it would be a great addition to the Indian market, but Yamahas reluctance to launch it here is puzzling. I believe the MT-25s performance and features would resonate well with Indian riders.

The MT-25s design is inspired by the MT-09 and MT-15, with a radically styled headlamp and aggressive streetfighter looks. This design appeal could attract a younger audience in India, but it remains to be seen if Yamaha will capitalize on this potential. I believe the unique design of the MT-25 could be a selling point if it ever makes its way to the Indian market.
