It's been 1 year since I bought my Black beauty, Aprilia SXR 160 and the experience cannot define in words. This was always my first choice since it hits on Indian roads however, my wish got fulfilled last year when my lovely Wife had gifted that to me. It Certainly a head turner on roads and if talk about presence, nothing can beat it. I am in love with it as it has never disappointed me. Its pick up is nonpareil though its sound is not that loud and roaring but when we ride it, it can be ignored because of its riding experience. Balance is perfect, mileage is atleast 40 (on high octane fuels), killer and muscular looks, more than enough space. What else we expect from a two-wheeler/scooter/scooty?
Best Features: Killer and muscular looks, Enough Space
Pros: Good Mileage
The Aprilia SXR 160 is an amazing ride. I've been using it for over two months now and I can honestly say that it's a great buy. I'm 5.7 and I feel comfortable while riding it. I don't get tired after long rides on it and the ride quality is amazing.
I've taken it on a few trips and it has been an absolute delight. On average, it gives me 43.8 km/l when I'm alone and 40.3 km/l when I'm with a pillion. Before my first service, it used to give me 35-36 km/l.
It's a head-turner and people always notice it when I'm riding it.
The only negatives I have with this scooter is that after 1500 kms, there was some noise at the tail lamp and a loose screw, but it was sorted out when I took it to the service centre. The fuel indicator sensor also gives wrong readings most of the time. The side stand could also have been angled better.
I wish Aprilia SXR 160 would introduce more accessories for this maxi-scooter.
Overall, I'm in love with the Aprilia SXR 160.
The shock absorbers and brakes on the SXR 160 are a bit of a problem, as they can get stuck and take time to release after a bump in the road. However, if you're riding on a smooth road, the SXR 160 is a far better ride than other scooters in its class. The seat isn't great for long rides, either – those who ride it more than 60 km a day may not find it comfortable. For short rides on smooth roads, the SXR 160 is a great ride and a lot of fun. Overall, it's a great scooter for short journeys.
The Aprilia SXR 160 is an impressive scooter that packs a lot of features into a relatively affordable package. It features a powerful 161.3 cc single-cylinder engine that produces 12.8 bhp and 11.6 Nm of torque, mated to a CVT gearbox. This setup helps the scooter to achieve a top speed of 92 kmph and a claimed fuel efficiency of 45 kmpl. The scooter also has a number of other features such as telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear for better ride quality, a 220 mm disc brake up front and a 140 mm drum brake at the rear for better braking performance, a digital instrument cluster for enhanced visibility, a USB charging port for charging phones and other devices, a fully-digital switchgear for enhanced convenience, and tubeless tyres for extra safety. The SXR 160 is available in four variants - Standard, Premium, Super and Carbon, with prices starting at Rs 1.14 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). All in all, the Aprilia SXR 160 is a great scooter that offers a nice mix of performance, features, and comfort, making it one of the best scooter offerings in its segment.
The fuel pump and fuel injector are a major problem when it comes to the SXR 160, as it can cause a lot of hassle and headaches. The trouble is that proper mechanics aren't always available to diagnose and repair the issue. Even when mechanics are available, they sometimes can't find out what the exact problem is, causing the same issues to arise over and over again. The shocker also does not work properly in certain conditions, which is an additional issue to worry about. Finally, the GPS navigation system is missing, which can be a major hindrance for many riders.
