Design
New Superb is unique at a closer look, yet it is designed to resemble the front grilles of all current Skoda models, being one of the characteristic features. The traditional vertical bars formed by wide lamellas, which point from the center to the rim of the vehicle, represent not only an important design component, but also support the front grille’s function by directing air flow to the radiator.
Directly below the front grille, at the lower part of the bumper, is an inlet for air intake, which may be lined with a chrome strip. This softens the sharp image of the vehicle and the Superb greets you with a double. The headlamps of the new model Superb, the unusual shape of which passes all the way to the sides of the wings, lend the front section of the vehicle a dynamic appearance. They form a powerfully dominant feature and a part of the elegant design of the entire vehicle which is impossible to overlook.
The TwinDoor, a unique system of opening the rear fifth door, is an original technical design which will take your breath away. If you wish to place smaller items in the boot, simply open the boot as you would on a classic sedan type body. But not even a heftier load is any problem for the new Superb. Thanks to the TwinDoor system you can open the rear boot, including the rear window, as you would with a liftback. You thus acquire comfortable access to the luggage space, the volume of which can be increased from 565 to an imposing 1,670 litres by tilting the backrest of the rear seats.
Features of New Skoda Superb:
1. Bi-Xenon headlamps with AFS.
2. Parking assistant.
3. Automatic DSG transmission.
4. Multifunction steering wheel.
5. The TwinDoor system.
6. Driver’s knee and rear side airbags.
Interiors
One of the new Superb's values is its extraordinary spaciousness. For example, the space for passengers’ legs in the back in comparison with the previous generation increased by a total of 19 mm and the volume of the luggage space rose to 565 litres. When driving on hot summer days, Climatronic air-conditioning with electronic regulation will ensure a pleasant environment in the interior, thanks to which it is possible to set different temperatures on the driver’s and front passenger’s sides. The sunroof with solar panels ensures ventilation of cool air even in a parked car.
In the winter, on the contrary, you can pre-heat your car to your preferred temperature with the help of independent auxiliary heating, and you are certain to appreciate the heated front and rear seats. So that the control elements are easily visible and reachable, there are white CatVision LED diodes and a reading light in the roof panel over the dashboard. Getting out of the car in the dark will be made easier by the illuminated internal door handles and Boarding Spots ligts on the underside of the external mirrors and car doors.
An electrically adjustable driver’s seat represents perfect comfort. If you share your car with another driver from your family, you can input three different settings into the seat’s memory; the external mirrors will also be set automatically.
Engines
New Skoda Superb was initially launched in only one model with 1.8 litre TSi petrol engine. Now, they have launched two new models - one is powered by 2.0 litre Turbo charged diesel engine with Pump Duse technology & second is powered by V6 petrol engine to compete with the recently launched Honda Accord V6.
The petrol and diesel engines are both fitted with direct fuel injection technology for superior response, fuel efficiency and lower emissions. The turbocharged petrol engine generates maximum power of 160 Bhp at 4500 rpm with 250 nm of torque. The diesel engine features VW’s patented pump duse technology, developing maximum power of 140 Bhp at 4000 rpm and 320 nm of torque at as low as 1750 rpm. The V6 16 Valve DOHC petrol engine generates maximum power of 260 Bhp at 2500 rpm with 350 nm of torque.
Safety
Airbags are an integral part of a car’s safety features today. The Skoda Superb can offer up to nine airbags. In addition to the head airbags, driver’s and front passenger’s airbags and side airbags in the front, the Superb has a knee airbag for the driver and side airbags in the back.
In addition to electromechanical power steering with variable effect and disc brakes on all wheels, a range of electronic system ensure excellent stability and control of the Superb. Standard features include the ESP stabilising system with an EDL electronic differential lock and an HBA hydraulic brake assistant. Obviously, these systems also include ABS, MSR and ASR.
