Volkswagen, a German car manufacturer is a great name in world automobile market. Slowly, it is strengthening its grip in the major Asian and African markets. The 2012 Sao Paulo Motor Show had seen the Volkswagen's newest small family SUV which got everyone's attention as well as praise for its design as well as fabulous features. According to the speculations, it will be launched in Europe and Brazil by the end of 2014 or by the mid of 2015 and in India will get it latest by 2016. It will compete with Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport.
The information about Volkswagen Taigun is not yet completely revealed but as confirmed from the Sao Paulo Motor Show's pictures, its exterior will have VW's familiar front radiator grille and headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels with prominent arches, stylish front and rear scuff plates and sporty roof rails, stylish dual chrome exhaust with split tailgate, power ORVMs, short overhangs, sleek lines all across the body, rack mounted tail lamp cluster and good stop lamp. It has a length of 3859mm, width of 1728mm and height of 1570mm as its dimension and has a large wheelbase of 2470mm for a stable ride. It has a kerb weight of 985kgs.
The interior of this beautiful Taigun SUV has large space with boot capacity of 280 litres which can be extended up to 987 litres by folding the rear seats. It also provides ample space for front and rear headroom of 1036mm and 980mm respectively. It has lots of storage spaces, adjustable seats with the exterior color to match, spacious aluminium dash with digital temperature buttons built into the air vents, dials for turbo boost pressure and a color monitor, chunky control and many more functions which will take some time to reveal themselves.
Volkswagen Taigun will have a 1.0L, 3-cylinder, TSI turbocharged petrol engine with a maximum power of 108 bhp and a maximum torque of 174 Nm and will have a six speed manual gearbox transmission. It will provide a top speed of almost 190 kmph and reaches 0-100 kmph mark in just 9.2 seconds. There will also be another variant with diesel engine which will be introduced later.
Volkswagen Taigun will have disk brakes at both front and rear wheels. For the safety, not much is revealed, but it will get dual front Airbags, fog lamps, parking sensors, ABS with EBD and ESP, seat belts for every passenger, remote central locking, engine immobilizer and child locks. Volkswagen Taigun's variants are not yet disclosed. Its shades are also not revealed but it is sure to be available in a large range of shades which includes Blue in which it is showcased at 2012 Sao Paulo Show. It will be priced at INR 10-12 lakhs (approx.).
