"Avanza" - Mini Innova Is Coming!!

Toyota India is doing extremely well in India with its segment leader people mover "Innova" and recently launched Fortuner which has also been a big hit. Now, they are planning to add a third vehicle to its ‘Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle’ (IMV) line-up in the country. This vehicle will be the Avanza - which is already on sale in Thailand, where it slots in below the Fortuner and Innova.

Toyota Avanza is smaller than the Innova and which is expected to be around 20-25% cheaper than its bigger sibling. Avanza is expected to be feature the same 1495cc engine which also powers the Thailand model. This petrol engine develops maximum power of 107 Bhp at 6000 rpm with maximum torque 141 Nm at 4400 rpm. The company could subsequently launch the Avanza in the Indian market by end-2011 or early-2012.

  The launch of the seven seater Rush/Terios will be a better bet for Toyota in India as this vehicle could double up both as an SUV cum MPV, but should be in the price range of 7L to 9L for it to achieve super success. The Rush/ Terios is quite popular in Asian countries, and was also being exported to Europe. The commercial launch of Rush/ Terios could also ward off competition of Renault's soon to be launched DUSTER.

  India is avery big market if toyota Mgt think about sales by volume. The Avanza seems to be a better option at 7lacs price as compared to other cars available in indian market plus backed by a company known for its quality. Similarly at price of about 10 lacs toyota may plan a lower version of fortuner which will have higher salas as such 8 to 10 seater vehicles are required in india at that price. 20 lacs+ price for fortuner is very high in india.
