Yamaha Motor India is currently working on a new motorcycle to be introduced in the country, and it has been revealed by the leaked type approval certificate. As per the document, the brand is preparing to launch another version of the R15 motorcycle in India. It is also visible in the document that the bike will have the same features as the R15 V3, hence we can assume it will be the rebranded version of the R15 V3 with some new colour choices. In addition, the new version will have an ‘S’ tag.

Looking forward to the other details found in the document, this bike will be powered by a BS-VI compliant 155cc engine which will be able to churn out 13.7 kW of power at 10000rpm. Moreover, the body dimensions of the base model are mentioned as 725mm in overall width, 1990mm in overall length, 1135mm in overall height, and a wheelbase of 1325mm, and these can be continued in the upcoming variant too.

It’s worth noting that the previous-generation model R15 V3 has the same max power output as the R15S. This has fueled the assumption that the new version will be the previous-generation model, and will be launched in India at a cheaper price than the current-generation model. Given that the R15 V4 has a high starting price of Rs. 1.71 lakh, it can be a smart move.

After being launched, the forthcoming R15S is going to rival the KTM RC125 and Suzuki Gixxer SF, just like the other R15 range bikes. The recently launched Bajaj Pulsar F250 also emerges as its competitor with enhanced power and an affordable price. At the present times, when bike prices are becoming really aggressive due to rising costs of raw materials and new taxes, it is challenging for the bike makers to sell the bikes at reasonable prices to preserve the selling rates.
