Volvo has launched the XC90 T8 Twin Engine Excellence Plug-In Hybrid in India at a price tag of INR 1.25 Crore (ex-showroom Delhi). The car is the first hybrid from the Swedish car maker, available just in the Excellence trim. Volvo also offers the installation of two charging stations within the cost of the car at customer's preferred location. The car features a petrol engine, coupled to electric motor for the rear wheels.
The best part comes when we see the 25 HP generator between the engine and transmission, reducing the loss between electric and petrol drive modes. The car comes with a 2.0 L, turbocharged and supercharged petrol engine producing 320 HP, combined with 87 HP from the electric motors produces a total of 407 HP. The all electric range of the car is 40 km.
The special features includes handmade crystal glasses from Orrefors, crystal gearshift knob and 21 inch alloy wheels on the outside. The car is the first one in India to have radar based safety systems like adaptive cruise control, pedestrian and large animal detection, collision warning with autonomous braking and blind spot detection. Volvo has already received 50 orders of the XC90 T8 in India.
