Volvo has launched the rugged and off-road friendly version for its S60 sedan, the Cross Country in India. It is a one of it's kind product as nothing has been changed in the car except raising its chassis by 65 mm and making its overall ground clearance 201 mm. The car is only available in a single variant, carrying the more powerful 2.4L diesel engine. The engine is good for 189 Bhp and produces a healthy 420 Nm of torque. The car has been launched with a price tag of INR 38.9 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).
Volvo S60 Cross Country comes with the same interior as a standard S60 and features the same 8-speed automatic gearbox with driving modes like economy and power. The adaptive cruise control, 4 wheel permanent drive and stability control in the car makes it much more than any car in it's price segment. It comes with automatic braking up to speeds of 50 kmph. The car is offered in shades namely Rich Java, Osmium Grey, Crystal White, Bright Silver and Onyx Black. Safety has always been a preference on Volvo cars and S60 Cross Country comes with ABS with EBD, hill hold control, satellite navigation, rear view camera with front and rear parking sensors, 2-stage front airbags and curtain airbags.
