Volkswagen Taigun Price Increased; Gets New Standard Features

Volkswagen has announced a price hike for its compact SUV, the Taigun and this is the second increase since its launch in September last year. The German carmaker is now offering the Taigun with prices dearer by Rs 60,000, and the base variant now starts at Rs 11.39 lakh. However, the brand has not only raised the purchase amount but also gifted the SUV with some sophisticated features as standard. 

Talking in detail about the added features, the Taigun now comes fitted with Tyre Pressure Deflation Warning and Engine Idle Start/Stop functions, and intriguingly, these features are offered as standard in all variants. As claimed by the brand, the addition of Engine Idle Start/Stop functionality helps improve fuel efficiency by up to 6% on the 1.0L Dynamic Line. Hence, the manual variant now offers 19.20 kmpl mileage, whilst the automatic variant offers fuel efficiency of 17.23 kmpl.

Aside from that, Volkswagen has also made some visual updates to the Taigun SUV. The Performance Line version of the Taigun now comes with Wild Cherry Red inserts within the SUV's cabin, but only with the Wild Cherry Red exterior colour. Taigun also receives new and enhanced rooflines, as disclosed on the company's website. The rest of the Taigun lineup is the same as it was before the updates.

The Taigun is powered by two turbo petrol engines: a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI unit and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder TSI mill. The former produces 114 hp and 178 Nm of torque, while the latter produces 148 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Both powerplant choices come equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. The 1.0-litre engine has a 6-speed torque converter as an automatic gearbox option, while the 1.5-litre engine has a 7-speed DSG unit.
