Volkswagen revealed the mighty 7 seat Atlas for the US market recently. The SUV would be built in Tennessee while its global operations may start from the end of 2017. Volkswagen claims it to be the biggest car ever built by them in the US, carrying a bold new design and room for seven. The car has been placed between Tiguan and Touareg, carrying the same MQB platform as many other recent generation VW group cars.
It measures 5037 mm in length, 1979 mm in width and 1768 mm in height. The massive dimensions tag the Atlas as the biggest Volkswagen in the US. The front headlights are standard LED's with DRL's while the rear is offered with an option between standard and LED lights. The space is good enough for 7 adults and their luggage.
Volkswagen offers the same in 2WD and 4WD options while other important features include Volkswagen Digital Cockpit, Apple Carplay, Android Auto and Mirrorlink. It even comes with Fender premium audio with 12 speakers and 480 watt amplifier. The topmost variant offers adaptive cruise control, front assist, blind spot monitor, lane assist, park assist and post-collision braking system.
Volkswagen Atlas is powered by two engines in the US. The first is 2.0 L petrol with 238 PS of maximum power while the other is 3.0 L VR6 with 280 PS of maximum power. Atlas would be sold under the name Teramount in China while its global sales would take more time depending upon the start of the car's sales in prominent markets.
