Updated Honda CB150R Streetfire Launched in Indonesia

With prices starting from IDR 2,67,50,000 on-road (around INR 1.27 lakh), Astra Honda Motor has launched the all-new 2018 Honda CB150R Streetfire in Indonesia. This bike will be available in two different editions, a standard one and a special one. When compared to its previous currently outgoing model, there are a lot of cosmetic upgrades on the CB150R Streetfire. For instance, the bike gets a new bikini fairing, and extended tank shrouds, which partially cover the trellis frame of the bike. There are no upgrades or changes made to the engine of the bike. The other changes on the bike from the previous model include a more aerodynamic tail section cowl, which now sports holes, and the bolt-on cast aluminium foot pegs and mounts. This makes the riding experience more comfortable. While there is no ABS on the bike, there are disc brakes on both ends, with a 276mm disc on the front and a 220mm disc at the rear. On the special edition, there is an engine belly cover which comes equipped, while it is an option on the standard model. Both the bikes are powered by the 149.16cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which puts out a maximum power of 16.8 hp at 9,000 rpm and a peak torque of 13.8 Nm at 7,000 rpm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Updated Honda CB150R Streetfire The standard edition comes in two colour options, Wild Black and Macho Black, while the special edition, which is IDR 11,00,000 (around INR 5200) more expensive than the standard version, comes in three paint schemes, Honda Racing Red, Fury Matte Red and Raptor Matte Black. The Honda CB150R will butt heads with the Yamaha Vixion, the Suzuki GSX-S150, and the upcoming Suzuki Bandit 150. The company plans to sell 95,000 units of the bikes combined annually.

The Honda CB150R is a naked street bike version of Honda CBR150R. It was recently launched in Indonesia. The bike is yet to make it's entry in India. As per now, there is no news by Honda for the India launch plans. But if you are looking for a good option in the naked street bike segment, you can very well go for Yamaha FZS Version 2.0 or a Suzuki Gixxer 155. I would suggest you to go for Honda CBR150R which is has a similar engine and more powerful than Honda CB150R. The bike has a kerb weight of 138 kg and a fuel tank capacity of 13 litres. It has a top speed of 134 kmph with a mileage of 35 kmpl in city, 45 kmpl on highway, 40 kmpl combined. Moreover, the bike is nearly same to what you are looking for.

Honda currently has no plans for the launch of CB150R in India. Honda will focus on mass market products around 100-125 cc this year. They have also confirmed that the new 2016 CBR150R would not be brought into India this year. Honda Activa generates nearly 2 lakh unit sale every month whereas the sales number for CB Shine and Dream series is again good. Honda will increase the production of commuter products as it's scooter only factory has started the work, taking its total production to around 6 million units annually.

It is not sure that Honda will launch CB150R in India but there would definitely be a product from the premium entry level naked sportbike with fuel injection and liquid cooling. Yamaha M-Slaz, Honda CB150R and others in the same category have a great scope for the Indian market as pricing them a bit close to INR 1 lakh would make them the most value oriented performance motorcycles for India. Second half of 2016 will witness more motorcycle launches than the first half of the year.
