TVS Electric Scooter Spotted; To Rival New Bajaj Chetak

At present, the electric automobile segment is one of the most sought-after segments by the automobile manufacturers to step up their game in the Indian market. Following the trend of foraying into the electric scooter division, TVS is all to launch its first electric scooter in the upcoming weeks. The TVS electric scooter has been spotted first time testing on the Indian roads while the test mules further offer an insight into what to expect from the upcoming product. The e-scooter from TVS was spotted near the brand’s production plant in Hosur and in terms of looks, one can expect it to be the production variant of the Creon concept that was unveiled by the brand back at Auto Expo 2018. The scooter was spotted by an automobile enthusiast who promises it to have an electric powertrain, recognised through the low “hum” of the electric motor. The brand has further announced its plans on launching an e-scooter before March 2020 while the production was started two years ago. Following the design traits of the TVS Creon concept, the scooter features a sharper front apron with stepped-up design as well as modern-day profile. The scooter further features a disc brake at the front while the suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front. In addition to this, the brand has equipped the scooter with a relaxed riding position for more comfortable riding. The rear section of the TVS electric scooter is borrowed from the TVS Jupiter which has been updated recently. The electric motor is further mounted on the hub. If the speculations turn out to be true and the spotted e-scooter is the production variant of the Creon concept, one can expect the TVS electric scooter to feature three high-density Li-Ion batteries mated to a 12kW electric motor. The motor will be capable of offering a maximum range of 80km while the scooter will be able to accelerate from 0-60 kmph in just 5.1 seconds. The TVS electric scooter is expected to make an official debut on January 25 along with the 2020 BS6 model of the Apache RR 310.
