The New Face of Power - BMW M4 Facelift Revealed

BMW has lifted the covers off the facelifted M4 Competition showcasing a host of updates aimed at elevating its performance and features to compete effectively in the sports car segment.

Styling Highlights

The new iteration of the BMW M4 boasts distinct visual enhancements, particularly noticeable in the redesigned lights at both ends. The rear lights, in particular, feature advanced glassfibre bundle technology, previously seen on the limited-edition BMW M4 CSL, adding a touch of sophistication to the exterior.

Powertrain Enhancements

Under the hood, the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six engine receives a power boost, now delivering an impressive 530hp, up from the previous 510hp. The peak power is achieved at a higher rev range of 6,250rpm, compared to the previous 5,600rpm. While torque remains unchanged at 650Nm, the new M4 maintains this level for an additional 230rpm, peaking between 2,750rpm and 5,730rpm.

An important change in the lineup is the discontinuation of the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant, leaving the four-wheel-drive xDrive version as the sole option. The xDrive version retains the capability to send torque exclusively to the rear wheels, especially when the stability control is disabled. Despite the power increase, the on-paper performance remains consistent, with BMW claiming 0-100kph sprint times of 3.5 seconds for the coupe and 3.7 seconds for the cabriolet.

Interior Updates

Inside the M4, the dual-screen infotainment and instrumentation displays measuring 14.9-inch and 12.3-inch, respectively, remain intact. However, the software receives an upgrade from version 8.0 to 8.5, incorporating improved voice controls for climate functions. The ambient lighting extends to the area above the central air vents, offering a choice of nine colors that dynamically respond to stimuli like an open door or an incoming phone call.

India Launch Expectations

BMW M4 fans and new buyers can anticipate the arrival of the updated BMW M4 lineup in India later this year, bringing the enhanced performance and features to the Indian market. The facelifted M4 is poised to continue its legacy of blending power, technology and style for an exhilarating driving experience.
