The Future Unveiled: Next-Gen Nissan Patrol SUV Coming Soon

Nissan's flagship SUV, the next-generation Patrol, is in the works, taking on rivals like the Land Cruiser 300. Spy shots have captured the forthcoming SUV, codenamed Patrol Y63, being tested in the Middle East and North America. It is expected to make its global debut in the coming months.

Key Highlights

New Design and Features: The upcoming Patrol Y63 will feature a completely new body shell, differing significantly from its predecessor. It will retain its rugged off-road character with a boxy design, upright front end, and a flat tailgate.

Sleeker Design Cues: The overall appearance of the Patrol SUV is squarer, with fewer rounded edges compared to the outgoing model. It will have sharper-looking headlamps with C-shaped LED DRLs and a large grille. The rear will feature angular tail lamps positioned vertically on each side of the flat tailgate.

Influence from Infiniti: The design of the Patrol was previewed by the Infiniti QX Monograph concept, indicating that the next-gen Patrol will also spawn the more luxurious QX80 SUV, primarily for the North American market.

Enhanced Comfort and Tech: The new Patrol is expected to come with more creature comforts and advanced technology, including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) functions and additional safety features.

North American Market: In the North American market, the SUV will be known as the Nissan Armada.

Engine Update: Similar to the Land Cruiser 300, Nissan will replace the V8 engine with a more powerful twin-turbo V6 setup to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions. While engine details are not confirmed, a 9-speed automatic transmission is expected. Unlike the Land Cruiser 300, the next-gen Patrol may not offer a diesel engine option.

India Launch: Nissan had previously evaluated the outgoing Patrol Y62 for the Indian market but did not officially introduce it. The brand currently offers the Magnite in India and has plans to introduce more models, such as the X-Trail. There is no confirmation regarding the new Patrol Y63's availability in India.

The next-generation Nissan Patrol aims to enhance its off-road capabilities, design, and advanced features, making it a compelling choice in the full-size SUV segment. However, its availability in specific markets, including India, is yet to be determined.
