Tata Motors finally unveiled its much-anticipated micro SUV, Punch, today, and bookings started with a Rs 21,000 deposit. The official launch date for the car is October 20, 2021, and deliveries are also expected to start on the same day. Once launched, it will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and Renault Kwid. The company has not announced the price of the forthcoming car, but we can expect it to come at a price of Rs 5 lakh to 9 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Punch, which was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo as the close-to-production H2X Concept, will be Tata Motors' most affordable SUV, slotting below the Nexon in the company's SUV lineup. It will be offered in seven different colour schemes and four variants. Top-spec models are anticipated to get the dual-tone paint schemes. In terms of appearance, the new Punch is really handsome. The exterior style is similar to the Harrier and Safari, with thin LED daytime running lights and large headlights located on the bumper.

Moreover, the grille is identical to the Nexon's, while the front bumper is hefty with Tata's tri-arrow design embellishments. Tata Motors' Global Head of Design, Martin Uhlarik, stated that their three design teams in India, the United Kingdom, and Italy collaborated to create the Tata Punch. Over 140 design experts worked on this project, creating hundreds of drawings, design concepts, and models that resulted in this beautiful SUV.

Based on Tata’s ALFA architecture, the Punch has twin front airbags, ABS with EBD and corner safety control, a reverse parking camera, ISOFIX child seat anchors as well as it gets a puncture repair kit. The micro SUV is powered by a 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated, three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine producing 85bhp at 6,000rpm and 113Nm of torque at 3,300rpm. This engine is coupled with either a five-speed manual transmission or an AMT transmission.
