With plenty of launches in the making, it is said that Tata Motors is working on an all-new midsize SUV. Tata mostly updated the versions of existing models or added a new powertrain option. Only a few brand new projects are brewing and one of them is about to enter the midsize SUV space by the name of Curvv.

The Curvv might be positioned between Nexon and Harrier and is expected to be a coupe-styled 4.3 meters long car. Curvv will be based on the 2nd generation Tata platform and might accommodate both ICE and EV powertrains.

We expect Tata Curvv to house a new 1.5L turbo-petrol motor, an updated 4-cylinder version of the 3-cylinder petrol version that is provided with Nexon. Similarly, the 1.5L turbo-diesel option would likely be the updated version of Nexon’s diesel engine.

With the recent EV releases, they could also make an EV version of the midsize SUV available before the ICE launch. The specifications of the EV version are unknown, but there are speculations it might offer a range of 500 km.

Tata has offered one of the safest and feature-rich machines in the past and we expect the same of Tata Curvv. Semi-digital instrument console, a touch screen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, iRA connected tech, automatic climate control, power-operated ORVMs, auto-dimming IRVM, and perhaps an electric sunroof.

We expect the midsize SUV Tata Curvv to launch in early 2023 with the EV version leading the way and the ICE version following later that year. The electric version will go against the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric. And the ICE version will rival Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, ŠKODA Kushaq and MG Astor, etc.
