The design language of the Safari EV largely mirrors that of its internal combustion engine counterpart, maintaining its robust and familiar silhouette. The prototype was seen sporting connected LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) and shares a resemblance in the alloy wheels design with the existing Safari, although they appeared slightly tweaked. Like the traditional Safari, the EV variant will also feature 19-inch alloy wheels. The rear design, inclusive of connected LED taillights, aligns closely with the standard Safari SUV.

Interior and Technology

While the interior was not visible in the spy shots, the Safari EV is anticipated to adopt the cabin layout and design updates seen in the 2023 Safari facelift. This includes a modern four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and climate control with both touch-sensitive and physical toggle switches.

The vehicle is expected to carry forward features like a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a gesture-controlled powered tailgate, an enhanced 10-speaker JBL sound system, rear sunshades, ventilated seats, connected car technology, and a panoramic sunroof.

Safety Features

Safety in the Safari EV should be robust, with provisions for up to seven airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera system, and an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) package.

Powertrain and Performance

Specific details about the powertrain of the Safari EV remain undisclosed; however, it is speculated to offer a commendable range of approximately 500 kilometers on a single charge. The EV will utilize Tata’s dedicated electric vehicle platform, Acti.EV which is also the foundation for the Harrier EV.

Pricing and Launch Expectations

The Tata Safari EV is projected to be priced starting at around Rs 32 lakh (ex-showroom). Its market debut is expected in early 2025. The Safari EV will market itself at launch as a roomier and more comfortable substitute for rival vehicles like the MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, and upcoming models like the Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti eVX.
