Its competitor, the Mahindra XUV400, also experienced a mid-life update, although there were no alterations to its powertrain. It was now time to evaluate how well the two electric cars performed in actual driving situations. Despite having similar specifications on paper they engaged in a closely contested battle. While the XUV400 outperforms the Nexon EV in terms of power, the latter boasts a larger battery pack, resulting in a higher claimed range. However, our focus for this test is primarily on speed.

Despite the XUV400 boasting a significantly higher torque figure, it doesn't fully translate into an advantage in real-world performance. While it edges out the Nexon EV in the 0-100kmph sprint, the difference is minimal. Similarly, both vehicles post nearly identical speeds in the quarter-mile test. In the braking test, the Nexon EV showcases a shorter stopping distance compared to the XUV400.
Pricing
The Tata Nexon EV ranges between Rs 14.49 lakh and Rs 19.29 lakh, encompassing both medium and long-range variants. On the other hand, Mahindra offers the XUV400 at prices ranging from Rs 15.49 lakh to Rs 19.39 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). While these two are each other's primary competitors, the MG ZS EV serves as a premium alternative.
