Tata Motors Bags Biggest Electric Bus Contract in India

According to recent updates from one of the biggest Indian carmakers, Tata Motors has successfully bagged a contract to supply 300 electric buses. The electric buses will be supplied to Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited (AJL), which is a bus rapid transit. The Indian automobile manufacturer notified in a release that it is one of the biggest electric bus orders in India. Tata Motors had previously delivered 200 electric buses to the government and all these buses were delivered under the Fame I Scheme. Due to this, Tata Motors now owns a total of 60% market share in the segment as notified by a company official. About the contract bagged by the Indian brand, the President of the Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, Girish Wagh said in an interview, "We are delighted to have won the largest tender of e Buses in the country. Tata Motors has been playing a proactive role in the electrification drive, with the development of electric traction system for hybrid as well as pure electric vehicles." He also added to his statement by saying, "The ultra electric buses are indigenously developed to offer superior design and best-in-class features. We will continue to support the Government in their commitment towards creating a sustainable future for India." The electric buses manufactured by Tata Motors will be deployed under the operation expenditure (OPEX) model which actually functions under the pay-per-km scheme. The electric buses have been tested and validated by the company in states like Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Assam, and Maharashtra to test its performance in diverse terrains. Girish Wagh also said that Tata Motors has been playing a proactive role in the attempt to implement electrification in the country along with the development of electric traction system for the pure electric as well as hybrid vehicles.
