Activa has become India’s best-selling scooter since it was introduced in the year 2001 by the company.
Within just three years of its debut, Honda Activa with a 102cc engine became the Indian market’s best-selling product by 2003-2004, and within the next few years, its customer base increased to 10 lakhs. Since the last 20 years, Activa is at the forefront of technological advancement which became the industry norm in future products. The MD, CEO, and President of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Private limited, Atsushi Ogata, in a statement, said that “we are happy to see India’s love for Activa as it continues to reign supreme”.
The brand has continued to revolutionize and evolve the scooter segment. In 2008, Honda Activa was upgraded with a bigger 110cc engine with better fuel economy and improved performance. As Activa has evolved with new technology and features over the years, the first 1 crore milestone for customer base was achieved in just 15 years, by 2015.
In 2014, the Honda Activa range was extended with the introduction of Activa 125. The next milestone of achieving the 1.5 crore customer base was achieved in just 5 years and today Activa is not just the highest selling scooter but also one of the best-selling two-wheelers in the Indian market. It competes with the likes of TVS Jupiter 110, Honda Maestro 110, Suzuki Access 125, Aprilia SR 125, and Piaggo Vespa 125 series.
