Rajasthan's e-bus rollout covers 1,150 approved buses across nine cities, with 250 received statewide, according to the state government's update dated 24 October 2026. Of those received, 103 had been handed to Jaipur City Transport Services Limited, while 58 were operating from Jaipur's Bagrana depot. These figures describe different rollout stages and should not be read as 1,150 buses already in service.
The rollout at a glance
Approved: 1,150 electric buses across nine cities under PM e-Bus Sewa.
Received: 250 buses statewide in the official snapshot.
Jaipur handover: 103 buses handed to JCTSL.
Bagrana operation: 58 buses operating from that Jaipur depot.
How many electric buses are allocated to each city?
Jaipur has the largest allocation at 550 buses, followed by Jodhpur with 125. Ajmer and Kota are allocated 100 each. The remaining allocations bring the total to 1,150, expanding the programme from the initially approved 675 buses across eight cities.
| City | Approved e-bus allocation |
|---|---|
| Jaipur | 550 |
| Jodhpur | 125 |
| Ajmer | 100 |
| Kota | 100 |
| Bikaner | 75 |
| Bhilwara | 50 |
| Alwar | 50 |
| Udaipur | 50 |
| Sikar | 50 |
| Total | 1,150 |
This table is an allocation breakdown, not a city-by-city delivery tracker. The update does not provide received and operating counts for every city, so those fields cannot be filled by distributing the statewide total in proportion to allocations.

Approved, received and operating mean different things
Approval establishes the planned fleet allocation. Receipt means buses have reached the state, while handover identifies a further stage involving the operating organisation. A bus in regular passenger service has passed another practical milestone involving depot readiness and operating arrangements.
The 58-bus figure applies specifically to Bagrana in Jaipur. It is neither Rajasthan's complete operating fleet nor a separate delivery to add to the 250 received statewide. Similarly, the 103 handed to Jaipur are included in the statewide receipt figure.
The official release says operations of the remaining Jaipur buses from the Todi depot would commence soon. It does not provide a fixed date, route list or service frequency. Those details matter more to an individual commuter than the allocation alone, and should be checked through current local transport information before planning a journey.
Why depots and charging matter as much as bus deliveries
The programme includes depots, charging stations, electrical connections and operating facilities. In Jaipur, depots have been established at Bagrana, Todi Mor and Sanganer. Land has also been allocated at Ralawata near Goner, Khatwada on Ajmer Road and Achrol on Delhi Road.
More than ₹60 crore has been approved for charging and other electrical infrastructure at bus depots, and more than ₹53 crore for civil infrastructure. Approval is not evidence that all the money has been spent or every facility commissioned. The release does not disclose charger counts, power ratings or depot-by-depot completion dates.
For passengers, the practical benefit depends on reliable routes, adequate frequency and buses returning to service after charging. The update also describes CCTV cameras, panic buttons and other safety equipment. It identifies senior citizens, students and persons with disabilities among intended beneficiaries, without specifying a new fare structure.
What about the further 450 buses and 50 double-deckers?
JCTSL is carrying out a procurement process for 450 electric buses and 50 electric double-decker buses in line with the 2025–26 Budget announcement. That is a procurement-stage statement. It should not be converted into an additional completed delivery or automatically added to 1,150 to announce a new approved statewide total.
FAQs
Are all 1,150 Rajasthan e-buses operating?
No. The official snapshot records 250 received statewide and separately identifies 58 operating from Jaipur's Bagrana depot.
Which city has the largest allocation?
Jaipur, with 550 approved buses. That allocation is different from its 103-bus handover count in the update.
Does the update confirm routes and service dates?
No complete route timetable or city-by-city commissioning schedule is supplied. The figures should be treated as the government's 24 October 2026 rollout snapshot.
