Maruti Suzuki Ciaz S was recently launched in India from INR 9,39,081 (ex-showroom Delhi). The new variant is currently placed over the Alpha trim, carrying a premium of around INR 11,000 from both the petrol and diesel top variants. This takes the total number of variants to ten, with each engine carrying Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Alpha and S trim on its own. Ciaz S diesel retails for INR 11,55,409 (ex-showroom Delhi). The changes are totally visual as both the engines carry the same output and mileage figures from new Ciaz S. This makes the car look much more sporty than its standard elegant filled avatar. Safety and utility features are exactly the same as top spec Alpha trim. Maruti Suzuki estimates that around 43 percent of Ciaz sold over last few months were from the Alpha trim and S could get popular for its sporty styling in young sedan buyers. Ciaz was once a high seller with around INR 1.5 lakh of price reduction for its SHVS equipped diesel engine due to additional subsidy in Delhi. Government recently ended the same in July 2017 and since then, the price difference between petrol and diesel Ciaz is almost the same as other Maruti cars of this segment. Article image The 1.4L, 4-cylinder petrol engine on the car is good for 91.1 BHP at 6000 rpm and 130 Nm at 4000 rpm whereas the 1.3L, 4-cylinder diesel engine is good for 88.8 BHP at 4000 rpm and 200 Nm at 1750 rpm. Ciaz is well known for its practical nature that offers 510 liters of boot space, 4490 mm of overall length and 2650 mm of impressive wheelbase. Maruti Ciaz rivals Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento in its segment. Senior Executive Director (Marketing and Sales), Maruti Suzuki, Mr. R S Kalsi said: "Ciaz has established itself as one of the most progressive brands of Maruti Suzuki and has sold over 1.70 lakh units of Ciaz cumulative since its launch in October 2014. Introduction of Ciaz S will further strengthen the position of Ciaz in the market by catering to the requirements of a younger yet premium customer who believes in the sporty spirit of life."
