Maruti Boosts Year-End Sales with Intensified December Discounts

In a strategic move to clear unsold stock and create a robust year-end surge, Maruti Suzuki, the leading automobile manufacturer, is rolling out higher discounts and benefits across its entire line-up. Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director of Sales and Marketing at Maruti Suzuki, recently highlighted the company's proactive stance in an interaction. With inventory levels currently at 30-35 days, the company anticipates a substantial reduction by the end of December, driven by aggressive schemes and sales promotions.

The Current Scenario

Inventory Levels and Strategy

Maruti Suzuki acknowledges the importance of maintaining optimal inventory levels. Shashank Srivastava emphasised that the current inventory stands at 30-35 days, prompting the implementation of strategic measures to bring it down further.

December Dynamics

The anticipation for a significant reduction in inventory levels by December end is fueled by Maruti Suzuki's commitment to aggressive schemes and higher discounts. Acknowledging the competitive market dynamics, he mentions that higher sales promotions are on the horizon for December.

Industry-Wide Impact

Consumer Decision-Making

As December unfolds, potential car buyers will have an array of options to consider. The higher discounts and benefits offered by Maruti Suzuki, a key player in the Indian automotive market, are likely to influence consumer decision-making and sway preferences toward their diverse line-up.

Clearing the Path for New Models

Reducing inventory not only benefits the company's financial health but also paves the way for the introduction of new models in the coming year. Maruti Suzuki can enter 2024 with a refreshed line-up and a strategic inventory balance.

Market Dynamics

The success of Maruti Suzuki's year-end strategy will not only impact its own performance but will also set a precedent for market dynamics. As potential car buyers weigh their options, the allure of higher discounts and benefits is likely to drive footfalls into Maruti Suzuki showrooms. Whether eyeing a compact hatchback, a sedan, or an SUV, customers stand to gain from the strategic moves made by the automaker.

As the year draws to a close, Maruti Suzuki delights customers with substantial discounts on select models. Here are the key highlights:

1. Jimny Discount Extravaganza: Rs 2.3 Lakh Off!

  • Exclusive Offer: Certain Maruti outlets are presenting an exclusive deal on the rugged Jimny, with an impressive discount of Rs 2.3 lakh.
  • Limited Time: This significant reduction is a limited-time offer, making it the perfect opportunity for off-road enthusiasts and compact SUV lovers to grab the iconic Jimny.

  • Budget-Friendly: The popular Celerio is part of the year-end celebration, with discounts of approximately Rs 70,000.

Maruti Nexa discounts: December 2023

We can confirm that Maruti Suzuki has told its dealer fraternity to be aggressive to clear unsold inventory. The biggest offer this month from Maruti is on the Jimny, with prices reduced by up to Rs 2 lakh on both variants. Additionally, Maruti has also introduced a Jimny Thunder Edition in order to increase the niche SUV’s customer appeal. Some dealers tell us that the Thunder Edition kit is also being provided free of cost at some outlets to push sales. This increases the total discount to a whopping Rs 2.3 lakh for the entry-level Jimny Zeta.

Additionally, newly launched models like the Fronx also get discounts of up to Rs 40,000 on some variants. The  Maruti NEXA Fronx is based on the Baleno and is averaging sales of around 11,000 units a month since launch. What’s more, the popular Grand Vitara SUV, which is Maruti’s rival to the Creta and Seltos, is also being offered with benefits of around Rs 25,000-35,000, depending on the variant. This also includes some variants of the fuel-sipping Grand Vitara Hybrid. Other Maruti Nexa models like the Ciaz, Baleno and Ignis are also being offered with discounts in the range of Rs 35,000-65,000, depending on model and inventory.

Maruti Arena discounts: December 2023

On the Arena side, Maruti dealers have been told to push sales of models like the Swift CNG, which now gets a special exchange bonus as well; total discounts now go up by Rs 25,000 compared to the last month. The brand has also increased discounts on the Alto K10 (Rs 52,000-63,000), which includes benefits on the CNG-powered model. The S Presso high-riding hatchback is now being offered with discounts of around Rs 56,000, while the popular Wagon R gets year-end benefits up to Rs 63,000, depending on the variant.

Even the Maruti Eeco is being offered with benefits of up to Rs 35,000 this month. The Celerio gets discounts of around Rs 70,000 on some variants, while the popular Dzire compact sedan – the one with the lowest year-end discount on offer right now – has no official discount. However, dealers offer some benefits on the Dzire CNG, which has a long waiting period. Additionally, a few dealers we spoke to are providing Rs 20,000 worth CNG fuel card to buyers of select Maruti models. This scheme was first introduced around Diwali this year, but it's been extended till December 31. The Ertiga has been Maruti’s blockbuster MPV since its launch and the brand has announced that it has around 67,000 pending orders for the MPV. Another popular model from Maruti, the Brezza, currently has a long order backlog, with no discounts on the Brezza petrol; the Brezza CNG has benefits of around Rs 20,000 though.
