With so many possible combinations, the Mahindra Scorpio-N variant range can be difficult to comprehend, but we will try to simplify it. Both the petrol and diesel engines are available with automatic transmissions, each with a 6-speed torque converter, but 4WD is only available on the diesel, albeit with either the manual or automatic.

When it comes to trim levels, an automatic is available in the Z4, Z8, and Z8L trims, but not the Z6 petrol. The 4WD, on the other hand, is only available with diesel engines and is available on the Z4, Z6, and Z8 trims. However, the six-seat captain chair option is only available with the top-spec Z8L trim. Meanwhile, the base Z2 trim does not receive any of these new options.

The process of booking and purchasing a Scorpio-N variant is almost as complicated as the Scorpio-N variant range. Following the staggering price reveal that began on June 27, Mahindra launched an Add to Cart function on its website on July 21, allowing buyers to register their interest and variant preferences, and began test drives at dealerships in select cities.

Prices for the Mahindra Scorpio N's automatic, 4WD, and six-seater variants have finally been announced, nearly a month after the SUV's initial launch. The 2.0 Petrol Z4 AT (7-seater) costs Rs 15.45 lakh (ex-showroom), while the 2.0 Diesel Z8L AT 4WD costs Rs 23.90 lakh (7-seater).

Although the remaining prices have now been revealed, bookings will not begin until July 30, a full month after the SUV's launch, with deliveries beginning on September 26. According to Mahindra, over 20,000 units are planned for the initial rollout until December 2022, with the top-end Z8L variant being prioritised based on customer enquiry trends.

With the full price range revealed, it is clear that there is a significant price overlap with Mahindra's other blockbuster SUV, the XUV700, but the company is confident that the two models cater to very different customers, and thus there will be little cannibalization.
