1.43 Lakh Mahindra SUVs Pending To Be Delivered in India

As of July 1, 2022, Mahindra had yet to deliver over 1.43 lakh SUVs. This figure only applies to four of its models: the XUV700, XUV300, Thar, and Bolero, and it is expected to rise significantly as the company prepares to open bookings for the all-new Scorpio-N on July 30.

In the XUV700, Mahindra offers advanced technology such as AdrenoX infotainment and ADAS, which require a large number of chips. Because of the semiconductor shortage, production delays for features like these are causing longer wait times. The XUV700, XUV300, Thar, and Bolero have received a total of 1,35,000 bookings, with the remainder made up of other M&M models.

The flagship XUV700, which will be released in August 2021, has 80,000 bookings with an average of 9,800 bookings per month. According to some dealers, units ordered now can be delivered by 2024, depending on variant and location. Since its introduction, the XUV700 has been home to 35,824 customers through the end of May 2022. The XUV700 would be a winner within the first two days of bookings, which saw 50,000 units booked, worth Rs 9,500 crore ex-showroom.

The Mahindra Thar comes in second in terms of unfulfilled bookings, with 26,000 units awaiting delivery. The Bolero, Mahindra's tough workhorse and a sales powerhouse for over two decades, is third on the list, with 15,000 units on order.

The popular XUV300, which still has 14,000 units to be delivered, has seen consistent demand since its February 14, 2019 launch and has sold a total of 1,42,264 units through the end-May 2022.

The Scorpio-N is the latest Mahindra SUV to up the ante. Mahindra will launch the XUV400 EV, a direct competitor to the popular Nexon EV, in September of this year. The company is also developing a number of 'Born electric' SUVs. On August 15, 2022, these future models will be previewed in concept form.
