KTM India recently announced that 60 percent of total bikes are sold in South Indian states and Maharashtra. It is widely believed that sport bikes are sold more in the North region (Punjab, Delhi). KTM says that most of the buyers from the Southern side are youth and they are more aware in the world of biking than rest of India. KTM bikes are priced between INR 1.43 lakh to INR 2.25 lakh while only five models are retailed currently through the local production route.
KTM India currently competes with Yamaha and Benelli as both the brands have 250 cc motorcycles in their stable. The 200 cc, single cylinder Duke even rivals TVS Apache RTR 200 and Bajaj Pulsar NS200. KTM is currently the highest selling sport brand in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. Yamaha is leading in Tamil Nadu while KTM stands second in Maharashtra. The growth of KTM is even one of the best among all other, selling 50 percent more units than last year's sale chart.
