In India, test mules wearing extensive camouflage have often been snapped by automobile fanatics, and now Jeep has officially published photographs of the much-anticipated Jeep Meridian SUV. The Meridian's front facade has a signature 7-slat front grille, a strong bonnet structure, a sports bumper with a thick horizontal line across the width, a large central air inlet, and a Jeep emblem sitting on the edge of the bonnet.

Looking at the rear profile images, the seven-seater SUV gets wraparound LED taillights and an upright tailgate. The brand will offer the 7-seater with both a single-tone and dual-tone colour scheme. Also, Jeep has partially shown the interior of the forthcoming Jeep Meridian and based on the official images, the interior of the Jeep Meridian with brown leather upholstery appears to be somewhat more upmarket than the Jeep Compass.

As for performance, the Jeep Meridian is believed to be driven by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder Multijet II diesel engine generating 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be mated with either a six-speed manual transmission or a nine-speed automatic transmission, with the former featuring a 4x2 system and the latter in 4x2 and 4x4 variants. The Meridian promises to be more opulent and upscale than the Compass, and in the seven-seater full-size SUV segment, it will compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X, and MG Gloster.
