Hyundai Plans to Introduce Additional N-Line Models in India

Retail sales of Hyundai's sporty N Line models in India are gradually gaining momentum. The introduction of the N Line range in India began with the i20 in 2021, followed by the Venue N Line in 2022. According to Hyundai, the combined sales of both models exceeded 10,000 units in 2023. Encouraged by this success, Hyundai now plans to expand its N-Line portfolio in India.

In a recent interaction with the media, Tarun Garg, COO of Hyundai India, expressed satisfaction with the performance of the N Line models, stating, "N Line is a very niche product, and we are happy with the numbers it has got us. We actually have more N Line goods coming soon to India, and we anticipate selling between 15,000 and 20,000 units over the course of the next few years."

While Hyundai hasn't disclosed which N Line model will be introduced next, it is confirmed that the Creta SUV will receive the N Line treatment later this year. The Creta N Line will be based on the upcoming Creta facelift set to hit the market soon.

The forthcoming Creta N Line is anticipated to share design elements with the recently teased Creta facelift. Following the styling cues seen in existing N Line models, the Creta N Line is likely to feature subtle alterations to the front bumper, grille, and front chin. N Line-specific red accents, combined with gloss black and faux-brushed aluminum elements, are expected. Unique alloy wheel design, side skirts, N Line badges, and styling tweaks to the rear bumper are also anticipated. Inside, the Creta N Line is likely to showcase an all-black interior theme, a distinctive N Line gear lever, and a steering wheel with red stitching, among other enhancements.

Hyundai Creta N Line: Expected Powertrain

Recent reports indicate that the Creta facelift will offer three engine options, including a new 1.5-litre, 160hp turbo-petrol engine, replacing the previous 1.4-litre engine. It is highly probable that this new engine will be featured in the N Line variant as well, coupled with a 7-speed DCT gearbox. Although no significant changes are expected in the engine output, Hyundai is likely to introduce a sportier suspension setup, a more performance-oriented exhaust system, and tweaked steering dynamics, aligning with the characteristics of other N Line models.

Upcoming Hyundai SUV Launches: 2023 and Beyond

In Hyundai's SUV lineup for 2023 and beyond, the Creta facelift and Creta N Line are the focal points. The Alcazar, Hyundai's popular SUV, is also slated for a facelift later this year. Additionally, the facelifted Tucson, which was unveiled internationally last year, is anticipated to make its way to India sometime in 2024.

The sporty design cues and improved performance of Hyundai's N Line series have drawn attention from a specific market segment. As Hyundai continues to expand its N-Line offerings in India the brand aims to capitalize on the success of this distinctive lineup and further boost sales in the coming years.
