The Honda Activa e is going to be launched in the Indian electric scooter segment and the delivery timelines are region-based. Below is a complete status update on the deliveries and battery swapping infrastructure of Activa e.

Delivery Timeline

Honda Activa e

Bengaluru: The Honda Activa e deliveries will begin in February 2025. The electric scooter will be rolled out to this city first because it already has a battery-swapping infrastructure.

Mumbai and Delhi: Similarly, deliveries were set to begin in February 2025, but those in these cities have been pushed back to April 2025 due to delays in having enough battery swapping stations in place. This is because the scooters can only be made available to customers after adequate battery swapping facilities have been put in place.

Battery Swapping Infrastructure

The Honda Activa e does not have a standard charging port and relies completely on a battery-swapping model. Users will instead need to swap out their depleted batteries at set stations.

Current Setup: Honda has already opened over 85 battery swapping stations in Bengaluru and intends to scale this up massively. By March 2026, the idea is to have 250 stations in Bengaluru, 150 in Delhi and 100 in Mumbai.

Battery Swapping Model: The Activa e will be sold on a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model and will use two 1.5 kWh swappable battery packs that customers will be able to rent at a nominal charge. The goal is to lower the upfront cost of buying an electric scooter and get rid of some of the range anxiety concerns.

Specifications & Features

The Honda Activa e is equipped with:

  • The motor is a 6 kW (8 bhp) permanent magnet synchronous motor.
  • A peak torque of 22 Nm.
  • With its swappable batteries, an expected range of up to 102 km on a single charge.

Three riding modes: There are Econ, Standard and Sport with a top speed of 80 km/h.

Conclusion

The electric Activa e is a big step forward for Honda in the Indian electric mobility market. Initial deliveries will begin in Bengaluru from February 2025, but Mumbai and Delhi customers will have to wait until April of the same year to 'take home' the vehicle as infrastructure developments are still in progress. The battery swapping network will be critical for the success of the Activa e, as the convenience of users will have a big role to play in the adoption of electric scooters in urban areas.
