Global Debut of Toyota FT-3e Concept Set for October 26 in Tokyo

Next week, Toyota will present the new FT-3e concept at the Tokyo Motor Show, also known as the Japan Mobility Show 2023. When it enters production in the near future, this new SUV will be the brand's second-born EV SUV. According to Toyota the FT-3e will pave the way for an innovative electric 4x4 that will mark the beginning of a new chapter in the company's history.

  • AI has been used in the design of the FT-3e idea.
  • will use the same platform as the sportscar FT-Se
  • Becoming Toyota's second-generation EV SUV

The FT-3e concept will be officially unveiled in Tokyo on October 26 and will arrive alongside the FT-Se sportscar and it will offer a glimpse of a sleek, five-seat SUV with a design language exclusive to the brand's electric vehicles. With clean, aero-optimized lines and a prominent beltline reminiscent of the Land Rover Defender, Toyota claims that its striking design was made "as simple as possible" with the use of artificial intelligence. In addition, squared-off paneling, a bumper-width rear light bar, and new alloy wheels painted the same color as the bodywork will be included.

Digital screens are located outside, extending upward from the base of the wheel arch in the direction of the door mirror and these give the driver information about the air quality, temperature within the cabin, and battery charge level as soon as they approach the vehicle. Additionally, it receives a special light pattern along the door sills that is anticipated to be exclusive to Toyota's electric SUVs.

Toyota will be able to maximize its aerodynamics due to the car's battery technology. According to the company, a lower, more aerodynamic design that lowers drag is made possible by lowering the height of the battery which is a crucial component of increased efficiency. The battery is around 150 mm tall in the current bZ4X, but it will be 120 mm tall in this variant.

According to the manufacturer, the car is a "lifestyle partner" that can be customized to the driver's preferences for ride quality and infotainment screen information about the surrounding area, making their lives as "stress-free" as possible and referring to it as a "one-of-a-kind cherished vehicle". It is anticipated that the infotainment system will receive upgrades over-the-air.

It will also implement on-board technology and emissions-saving production methods in keeping with Toyota's goal of cutting its carbon emissions by 35 percent by 2030. In the upcoming days more information about this new SUV idea should become available.
