Ford Endeavour series is now available in just three variants in India. Ford has discontinued the manual variants of the SUV and it is now available with only automatic gearbox. The move came after all other cars of the segment were ready to drop some lakhs from their present day price tags due to the upcoming GST slabs.
Cars coming under the SUV category will now attract lower tax rates and Ford Endeavour will definitely fall in this section. The existing three variants are 2.2L 4x2 Trend, 2.2L 4x2 Titanium and 3.2L 4x4 Titanium. All of these are equipped with a 6-speed automatic gearbox while features vary considerably within all three variants.
The range now starts at INR 25.49 lakh for the base variant while goes up to INR 31.50 lakh for the 3.2L engine. Ford proudly calls the new Endeavour as its most capable SUV and features listed inside the car would not let them bow down in front of any car in it's segment.
The 2.2L, 4-cylinder engine on the car is good for 157.8 BHP at 3200 rpm and 385 Nm at 1600-2500 rpm. This engine can now only be bought with a 2-wheel drive option. Trend variant lacks the premium features that are offered in the higher placed (INR 28.62 lakh) Titanium variant.
The bigger 3.2L, 5-cylinder engine on the Endeavour is good for 197.3 BHP at 3000 rpm and 470 Nm at 1750-2500 rpm. The car measures 4892 mm in length, 1860 mm in width and 1837 mm in height. Ford claims a 225 mm ground clearance for the flagship SUV.
It rivals none other than Toyota Fortuner in the Indian market. Both the cars are the closest possible competitors and choosing one out of them would be a difficult decision. The important feature that makes Ford Endeavour unique is it's semi automatic parking system in the top spec model.
