Force Kargo King Grand Spotted During Testing

The much-anticipated commercial pickup truck version of the Force Cruiser is long overdue, marking the re-launch of the now-discontinued Force Motors' Kargo lineup. Although the company had showcased the new and updated Kargo King Grand at the 2020 Auto Expo, it never made it to the market. However, recent sightings of the Force Kargo King Grand being tested suggest that a launch is imminent.

The design of the Force Kargo King Grand draws inspiration from the iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Class or G-Wagon, which has retained its distinctive design over decades. Force Motors, known for its G-Class-inspired design language, continues this trend with the latest model. In comparison to the previous generation Kargo pickup truck, the new model boasts a significantly more appealing design. It appears as if Force Motors took its popular Cruiser MUV, removed everything behind the front two seats, and added a 9ftX6ft (dimensions not confirmed) flatbed for utility purposes. This execution translates into a design that is both practical and aesthetically pleasing.

Thanks to a spy video provided by Rushlane's dedicated reader, Akshay Kumar, the Force Kargo King Grand has been captured without camouflage during testing. The test mule featured emission testing equipment and a short exhaust similar to its predecessor. The production-spec vehicle is expected to closely resemble the model showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. Notable design elements include a seamless line from under the flatbed, without wheel well intrusions, flowing into the cabin's lines. This effect is achieved with an additional sheet metal panel extending the flatbed's appearance lower than it actually is, along with black cladding on the doors and running boards.

Specs, Features, and Powertrains

The G-Class-inspired aesthetics are evident in the front design, featuring pull-out type door handles, external door hinges, chunky claddings, and a flat bonnet that closes on top of its front quarter panels. Force Motors is expected to introduce a stripped-down pickup truck with a roughly 9ftX6ft deck, front and rear leaf spring suspension, rear drum brakes, 16-inch steel wheels with heavy-duty tube tires, 235 mm ground clearance, a protective guard for the cabin, and a loading capacity of up to 1.5 tons.

Internally, the Force Kargo King Grand is likely to feature the same dashboard as the Gurkha and Cruiser models, with the center console borrowed from the Cruiser. However, features are expected to be limited, with the vehicle missing out on standard amenities such as air conditioning, a music system, fog lights, electric windows, remote locking, and other fancy equipment and creature comforts.

Under the hood, the Force Kargo King Grand will be powered by a Mercedes-derived 2.6L FM CR diesel engine, producing 90 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. This engine will be coupled with a 5-speed gearbox. There could be a 4X4 version of the Force Kargo King Grand, similar to what Tata offers with the Yodha. Direct competitors for the Force Kargo include the Tata Yodha and the Mahindra Bolero-based pickup truck range.

Personal Insights and Wishes

The article concludes with a personal touch, expressing a desire for a passenger version of the Kargo with Gurkha's fascia and headlights, fender-mounted indicators, a snorkel, an off-road bumper, and 18-inch alloy wheels from Gurkha 5-Door. The envisioned passenger version would also include a 4X4 transfer case, front and rear locking differentials, and interior features to create an earth-roaming overlander setup. The author playfully suggests that this might be a unique preference.
