Ceat Launches High-Performance Steel Rads for Motorcycles

Ceat has launched a new range of steel radial tyres: Sportrad and Crossrad with the aim of taking the performance of their two-wheeler tyre range to the next level. The Sportrad series is a steel belted radial tyre offering from Ceat and it offers riders road focused tyres that provide sporty performance, better cornering capabilities and high speed stability. It comes with a 80:20 road/off-road bias so is primarily meant to be used on the roads. The groove design is also optimised for better wet grip and also comes with a maximised slick area at the crown that can provide stability for speeds up to 270kmph. With these tyres, Ceat is planning on targeting the entry level sport and adventure segment.

Technological Advancements

According to Ceat it will be launched in two sizes initially, 110/70ZR17 and 150/60ZR17 with a price of Rs 12,500 for a set. It is meant for motorcycles such as the KTM 390 Duke and 250 Duke, KTM RC 200 and RC 390 along with Bajaj Dominar 400, Aprilia RS 457 and the TVS Apache RR310.

Impact on Motorcycle Riding Experience

The debut of Ceat's steel radial high-performance tires is expected to drastically change the motorbike riding experience in general. Since these tires are more durable, riders may encounter fewer instances of tire wear, which could end up in cost savings.
