Production-Spec Volkswagen Taigun Officially Revealed: VW India has officially unveiled the production-ready model of the Taigun compact SUV, which has been specifically developed for the Indian markets.  As we reported earlier, Taigun and the upcoming Skoda Kushaq are the first products under the VW MQB A0 IN platform that will also form the basis of other future products for India. This platform has been specifically developed for India with a very high level of localization, thus a customer can expect the product to be priced at par with the segment and given that they are SUVs with a premium badge at a reasonable price. The 2,651mm wheelbase is about 100mm longer than the Euro-spec T-Cross. The India-spec model of the VW Taigun has 205mm of ground clearance. The brand has worked on the design elements too. The bonnet of the SUV gets a more angular look while the brand has used a lot of chrome on the grille and bumpers. The fit and finish and quality of the material are expected to be of premium quality. The product is tech-laden with a virtual digital instrument console and the latest infotainment software with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The top variants are also expected to come equipped with a panoramic sunroof as standard, [caption id="attachment_594219" align="aligncenter" width="970"]Production-Spec Volkswagen Taigun Front 3-Quarter View Production-Spec Volkswagen Taigun Front 3-Quarter View[/caption] Under the hood, the India-spec VW Taigun will be available with two turbo-petrol engine options- the 1.0L TSI engine and the bigger 1.5L TSI engine from the Vento and T-Roc. The 1.0L engine produces 110hp and 175Nm while the 1.5L engine produces 150hp and 250Nm. The 1.0L TSI engine will offer a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic transmission while the 1.5L TSI engine is likely to come with a 7-speed DSG gearbox as standard. VW Taigun is expected to get a starting ex-showroom price tag of around INR 10 lakhs and it would be competing with the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
