A month back, Volkswagen announced its plans of updating all 1.2L cars with their new 1.0L engine. Now, it seems like they have gone a step further by adding Ameo under this list. Surprisingly, all other cars are offered with bigger engines in this segment and Ameo is quite heavy in comparison to Maruti and Hyundai compact sedans. They made no changes to their 1.5L diesel engine.

1000cc Volkswagen Ameo is good for 75 HP and 95 Nm of torque while other cars produce around 85 HP of power and 112-115 Nm of torque in this segment. Volkswagen has started a nationwide brand awareness campaign that will help Ameo get some space among other compact cars in India.
Their step to downgrade engine size and get better fuel efficiency may not work in the way it was planned by Volkswagen. Every car maker is improving their products by adding more power and simultaneously balancing mileage for better use in city and highway driving conditions.
Volkswagen has also launched Ameo Pace in India for INR 6.10 lakh. It was launched within a month of India debut of Polo Pace. Adding fun to their already loaded package, Ameo Pace comes with gloss black ORVM, cruise control, alloy wheels and rear lip spoiler.
Ameo measures 3995 mm in length, 1682 mm in width and 1483 mm in height. It offers an ultra responsive 7-speed dual clutch gearbox on the diesel engine, making it one among limited number of cars that offer automatic option on a diesel engine. Out of all trims, the automatic variant offers maximum fuel efficiency on an Ameo.
