Earlier we reported that the Toyota Vellfire has started reaching the dealerships and also that the premium MPV is expected to be priced at around INR 75 lakh (ex-showroom). As per the latest details available, some of the Toyota dealerships have also started accepting pre-bookings for the MPV in India. Article image The Toyota Vellfire is a luxurious MPV and is the big bro of the Innova Crysta. The Japanese carmaker recently introduced the Fortuner TRD Celebratory Edition in the Indian market and now is the time to introduce the Vellfire premium MPV. The India-spec variant of the Toyota Vellfire is a 7-seater model and like the rest of the imported Toyota cars in India, the Vellfire will also be coming to the Indian market as a CBU and is planned to be launched as a niche product. Article image It seems like Toyota will first try to scrutinise the response of the people and will then decide the price of the luxury MPV and also about the units they should allocate to the Indian market. However, the Toyota Vellfire is expected to go on sale later this year at a price tag of around INR 75 Lakh and will rival the Mercedes-Benz V-Class. The Vellfire is one of the most luxury-oriented multi-purpose vehicles by Toyota and is the sassier version of the Alphard MPV. Outside India, the Vellfire is being offered in two body styles - Standard Body and Aero Body. As per the recent reports, the India-spec model of the Toyota Vellfire will have a standard body design. Article image Toyota Vellfire comprises of a powerful 2AR-FE 2.5-litre petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 182HP and a peak torque of 235Nm. The engine comes mated to a CVT transmission. The second engine option is the 2GR-FKS 3.5-litre petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 301HP and peak torque of 361Nm teamed with an 8-Speed AT gearbox. A hybrid powertrain is also present in combination with a 2AR-FXE 2.5-litre petrol engine, the 2JM electric motor and 2FM electric motor. As per the details available, the India-spec variant of the car is expected to get the hybrid powertrain option.
