The Toyota Urban Cruiser compact SUV (rebadged Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza) has been officially teased ahead of the launch in the coming weeks. As we reported earlier, the Maruti Brezza-based Toyota Urban Cruiser will launch in the Indian market in September 2020 while the pre-bookings for the compact SUV are expected to begin from August 22, 2020.
In terms of looks, the Urban Cruiser will feature the same design traits but with a slightly different front and rear end to set the Toyota version apart from the Maruti Vitara Brezza. This time, Toyota has decided to follow a different path with their rebadged SUV when compared to the Toyota Glanza which is a rebadged Maruti Baleno and features only Toyota badging for differentiation.
Mechanically, the Toyota version of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza will be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine which is good for a maximum power of 103HP at 6000 rpm along with 138Nm of peak torque at 4400 rpm.

The Urban Cruiser will be the first-ever SUV from the brand that will feature a mild hybrid system mated to a manual gearbox. The manual version of the SUV is also expected to offer better fuel efficiency than the one offered by the non-hybrid manual variant of the Vitara Brezza.
Apart from this, both the manual and automatic versions of the Toyota Urban Cruiser will be mated to mild hybrid technologies though the brand is not expected to offer them an ISG external badging.
Once launched in India, the Urban Cruiser will be priced in the same vicinity of INR 7 to INR 11 lakh just like the Vitara Brezza though the brand is expected to sweeten up the deal further with impressive warranty schemes for the high-end variants.
