NextEV Nio EP9 is the recent entry of a Chinese EV brand into road legal electric supercar competition. It recently launched a division named Nio, truly dedicated to cars that could be used on roads other than their track specific properties. EP9 is none other than its very first success story, revealing its mind blowing 1380 HP of maximum power from its fully electric drivetrain. The all wheel drive, two seater looks nothing very satisfying, carrying those typical supercar lines and low stance. nio_ep9_front_top_1

NextEV Nio EP9 Electric Supercar Revealed

Nio EP9 comes with 4 electric motors and gearboxes, developed with the help of its Formula E team. The total power output of these motors is 1 megawatt while it takes just 2.7 seconds for the car to reach 100 kmph from standstill, and 0-200 kmph in 7.1 seconds! The top speed is rated at 313 kmph. NextEV backs all its claims by publicly announcing the Nurburgring lap time of Nio EP9, which stands at 7 minutes and 5.12 seconds. This beats the earlier record by Toyota EV P001 by a good margin of 17 seconds and just 8 seconds slower than Porsche 918 Spyder. nio-ep9-launch-3-876x535 NextEV even says that EP9 can produce a down-force of 24000 newtons at 240 kmph, which is nearly two times than an F1 car. Even if its not all about racing, Nio EP9 carries FIA LMP1 certification for safety. The water cooled, twin lithium ion batteries on the car takes 45 minutes to charge and claims a range of 430 kms. They can even be easily removed and replaced for new ones anytime. It weighs 1735 kg and only 6 units for the same will be made ever. If some reports are to be believed Nio EP9 was just launched in order to demonstrate the power of EV vehicles, that could help building NextEV's reputation in long term. A mass market EV for Chine seems to be on the way. nio_ep9_front nio_ep9_front34 1620-1 1620-2 1620 2040-1 2040 nextev_nio_ep9 nio_ep9_batteries
