MG Motors is planning to expand rapidly in our country. After the launch of Hector SUV, the company has confirmed to launch its eZS electric SUV later this year. Not only that, according to a recent report by Autocar India, it is being expected that before Diwali 2020 MG Motor will bring another SUV, the Maxus D90, from its parent company SAIC’s portfolio to the Indian market. Article image Talking about the design, the Maxus D90 is built on a light truck platform and sports a chunky SUV design, a massive front cowl, a large and long cabin, adaptive LED headlamps, and large dual-tone alloy wheels. If we see the dimensions of the car, it is quite a bit larger than the Hector, which is not a small SUV. The dimensions of the Maxus D90 are 5005mm in length, 1932mm in width, and 1875mm of height, and has 2950mm wheelbase. The Maxus D90 is even bigger on every front than the Mahindra Alturas G4. Article image Mechanically in the Chinese market, the Maxus D90 SUV comes with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that generates 224 HP of max power with 360 Nm of peak torque. The car comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. A source at the company told Autocar India that MG Motor is working on the diesel variant which is likely to be introduced in India. The car will come with a four-wheel drive option and a low-range transfer case. The ground clearance of the car is 210mm and it is available with seven drive modes: Automatic, Motion, Sandy, Snow, Economy, Mud, and Rock. Article image Coming to the interiors, the Maxus D90 will come with a feature-rich cabin. The China-spec model gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, cooled/heated seats, three-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera and more. In terms of safety, we can expect the India-spec model to come with ESP, six airbags, ABS with EBD, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The more advanced safety features which are available on international models are still unconfirmed whether they will make to the India-spec model or not. Article image It is for sure that the Maxus D90 SUV will get a different name for India when it will launch under the MG brand. If we take into consideration the SUV’s price in Australia where it is called LDV 90, the India-spec Maxus D90 is likely to be priced around INR 30-35 lakh. So, for now, we can expect it to rival the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour in the Indian market. Source
