Maruti Baleno DualJet 1.2L Smart Hybrid has been launched in India for INR 7.25 lakh. The engine is seen under the Delta variant for this price while those looking for Zeta will need to spend INR 7.86 lakh for the DualJet engine. The prices mentioned here are ex-showroom.
Maruti Baleno is now available with the BS6-compliant petrol engine lineup, taking the prices up by INR 13,000-20,000 on the regular variants. The powerful 1.2L K12B petrol motor claims 21.4 kmpl of mileage while the K12C DualJet engine claims 23.87 kmpl of certified mileage.
The 1.2L DualJet Smart Hybrid engine features a start-stop system, torque-boost function and brake energy regeneration to keep the efficiency high and emissions to the lowest possible mark for the engine. The fuel injection system has been tweaked for a better accelerator response and list of minor changes in the motor department seems endless.
The premium being charged for the Smart Hybrid system is only justified through the improved mileage as power (83HP) and torque (115NM) output stays the same for both the variants. Maruti Suzuki is using the same system on Ciaz and Ertiga as the two premium options are preferred by many buyers in the petrol variant.
Also, the power output for the petrol engine is good for everyday drivers who need both highway and city-specific driving. The on-road price difference for the standard and smart hybrid variants is close to INR 1 lakh. The total reduction in NOx from the engine is 25% while the automatic variant is available only on the K12B engine without any Smart Hybrid tech on-board.
The car comes with Smartplay Studio, dual-tone black and blue interior theme, and it also gets a reverse parking camera on the top-spec model while every variant on the list comes with reverse parking sensors, seat-belt reminder, and speed alert system as standard.
