2019 Maruti WagonR CNG has been launched in India for INR 4.84 lakh. The car rivals none other than the CNG variant of Hyundai Santro, leaving fans with an option to consider more headroom and spacious feel in the boxy yet redesigned version of the popular WagonR. The brand has tried hard to remove the sharp boxy bits and the new design comes with smooth edges over the sharp lines of the last version. The optional variant for the LXi-based WagonR CNG is priced INR 5,000 higher than the standard version. The base variant of the CNG-equipped car comes with ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, a speed alert system and a driver-side airbag. The INR 5000 worth price jump brings passenger airbag to the package. Seat belt reminder stays standard on all the variants. The CNG-powered version comes with 33.54 km/kg of mileage and offers central locking, air conditioner, front power windows and 13-inch steel wheels as standard. The car is good for 68 HP and 90 Nm on the petrol power while CNG filters down the output to 59 HP and 78 Nm. Still, the values are better than most cars with smaller than the litre-class engine. The mileage value and lower cost of the fuel make the WagonR an even more attractive option for those who drive long distances every day. Article image The CNG variant of Santro costs more as it is based on the middle-spec variants while Maruti offers the same on the base version only. It seems like their first customer target is cab operators as offering all basic needs and CNG for a low price will attract more commercial use buyers than those who need a car for an average daily commute. The price difference between the regular base variant and CNG-equipped WagonR is INR 65,000. The car is also available with 83 HP, 1.2L petrol motor for those who need the top or middle-spec variant for personal use. Image Source
