Next-Gen Mahindra Thar Exterior & Interior Revealed: Ahead of the official unveiling on August 15, 2020, the undisguised exterior and interior images of new Mahindra Thar have surfaced online. The all-new model of the SUV is expected to launch in the Indan market in October or November this year while the booking details are expected to be revealed a few days after the unveiling event, which is scheduled to take place on August 15 at the brand’s official website. Here are the latest spy photos of the new Thar:
In terms of the design, the new-gen Mahindra Thar has been imparted with an upright stance while the overall muscular profile accentuates its rugged appeal. The seven-slat vertical front grille and the wide front bumper remain more or less the same while the overall boxy design profile with the round headlight design and flared up wheel arches accentuate it further.
In addition to this, the interior of the updated SUV will feature a touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The new-gen Mahindra Thar will get cruise control, automatic climate control and more cabin space for additional comfort.
As we reported earlier, the Mahindra Thar will also be available with a 6-speed Aisin torque converter automatic gearbox which will be further mated to a diesel engine. The brand is expected to equip the updated SUV with a BS6 2.2-litre diesel engine that will be capable of offering maximum power of 140HP and a peak torque of 300Nm.
The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard while a 4-Wheel-Drive system and a 6-speed automatic transmission will be on offer as an option. It is also being rumoured that the next-gen Mahindra Thar will be available with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine option as well. Once launched in India, the new-gen Mahindra Thar is expected to get a starting price tag of around INR 11-12 lakh (ex-showroom).
