Kia Working on Compact SUV; To Rival Hyundai Venue & Maruti Brezza

The Seoul-based Kia Motors is reportedly working on an all-new compact SUV for the Indian market. The mini SUV will enter the market in competition with the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Honda WR-V, Tata Nexon, and the Ford EcoSport. This compact SUV by Kia will be available in the market at a price tag ranging between INR 7-11 lakh (ex-showroom). The expected launch will be third in the row of upcoming launches after the products namely Seltos to be the first and the Grand Carnival luxury MPV to be the second. The company stated that it needs to launch a compact SUV to serve the purpose of utilizing the entire production capacity by 2022 which was a bit difficult with only Seltos and Grand Carnival. Speaking about Kia Motors, the company will soon be entering the Indian market with its upcoming product Seltos, that seems like a promising start for the brand in India. The Kia Seltos is a midsize premium SUV and it will be available with 3 engine options in India. The first option is a 1.4-litre GDI petrol engine that can generate a power of 140HP and a peak torque of 242Nm. The second engine option is a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which is capable to churn out a power of 115HP and a maximum torque of 144Nm. The last option is a 1.5-litre VGT diesel engine, that produces a max power of 115HP and a peak torque of 250Nm. The above-listed engines come packed with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. When it comes to automatic transmission options, the brand is offering the 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine with a 7-speed DCT, the 1.5-litre petrol engine option will be teamed with an IVT gearbox whereas the diesel engine will be available with a 6-speed torque converter auto transmission. The company has already started the media drives for the advertisement of its product. The Kia Seltos is ready to mark its debut in the Indian market on August 22, 2019.
