New Honda City Bookings Open in India: After revealing the technical specifications and photos of the India-Spec 2020 Honda City, the brand has now officially started accepting bookings for the sedan ahead of the launch in July. The pre-booking token amount stands at INR 21,000 if the customer books the new City at the dealership while the online booking amount has been fixed at INR 5,000 if the customer books the sedan at Honda's official website.

In terms of design, Honda has equipped the 2020 model of the City sedan with a thick chrome grille at the front which is heavily inspired by the new Civic. The sedan further features LED headlights mated to unique LED DRLs. Coming to the interior, the 2020 Honda City features an all-new black/beige colour scheme in addition to getting an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system while the AC vents are now positioned vertically. The 3-spoke steering wheel has been further equipped with cruise control and infotainment controls.

Mechanically, the car will be available with two BS6-compliant engine options. The 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine will be good for a maximum power of 121 HP @ 6,600 rpm and peak torque of 145 Nm @ 4,300 rpm. It will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox along with an optional 7-speed CVT unit.
The second engine option will be a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit, which will generate a maximum power of 100 HP @ 3,600 rpm and a peak torque of 200 Nm @ 1,750 rpm. The diesel engine will be paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. For now, Honda is not offering the new City in a diesel-automatic configuration.

Honda will be announcing the prices for the 2020 City next month while one can expect it to get a starting ex-showroom price tag of around INR 10 lakhs. Once launched in India, the updated model will compete in the market with the likes of Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and the Skoda Rapid.
