The new Ford Mustang GT muscle car was expected to launch in the Indian market in April 2020, then in July 2020, but due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the launch is now expected to take place by the end of this year or in early 2021. The new model of the Mustang muscle car has been on sale globally for quite some time. The updated Ford Mustang was first showcased at the 2018 Frankfurt Motor Show. The all-new India-spec model will possess the same power output that is present in the pre-facelift model, which is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 naturally-aspirated petrol engine. Article image When the facelifted Mustang was initially unveiled, Ford decided to skip launching the updated model in India as the brand rather wanted to launch the next-generation model. Whereas, the American automobile manufacturer is now interested in bringing the facelifted Mustang to the Indian market. As per the recent reports, the updated model will be offered in a single trim while fluctuation in the price of the car is highly unlikely to happen. The currently retailing pre-facelift version of the Mustang is available at a price tag of INR 74.62 lakh (ex-showroom India). Article image Although the updated version is powered by the same engine, the facelifted model has been upgraded to offer a maximum power of 450HP, which is higher than the pre-facelift model that is good for 415HP. It is being speculated that in the new Mustang, the company is planning to pair the engine with a 10-speed automatic gearbox in place of the 6-speed AT transmission offered on the current-gen model available in India. The front fascia of the new Mustang has been redesigned as the muscle car now has sharper headlights and a sporty bonnet. The grille of the facelifted Mustang has also been upgraded to give it a slimmer and sleeker profile. The interiors of the car now feature a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with mild cosmetic tweaks. Towards the rear end, the car has been equipped with a redesigned bumper and diffuser. The facelifted Ford Mustang also gets three new paint shades which include blue, orange, and red. In addition to that, the coupe also gets a set of new 19-inch alloy wheels, which will be available in three finishes.
