FASTag Now Available Free of Charge for 15 Days

FASTag is the step initiated by the Indian government for electronic toll collection on toll plazas on National Highways. To speed up the process, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to offer free FASTags between 15th February and 29th February 2020, though the security deposit and minimum balance amount for the FASTag wallet remain unchanged. According to a recent statement issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway - "In order to further increase digital collection of user fee via FASTag at NH fee plazas, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to waive off the FASTag cost of Rs 100 for NHAI FASTag between February 15 and 29, 2020.” To get the FASTag free of cost, the users can visit any authorised point-of-sale (PoS) location with a valid RC (Registration Certificate) of the vehicle." This is the second time that NHAI is offering the FASTag for free. Earlier it was offered from November 22 to December 15 last year. Once every vehicle is covered under this system, the toll income for NHAI would reach around INR 100 crore per day.
